Yeah but they were doing fire drills early when we went to their place last yearSmudger67S wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 8:22 am If it’s down to form, Tigers may not win, if it’s down to discipline Tigers may come out the wrong side of that too based on last years game. Two tries to one last year at WR and lost by a point.
Yep, Saints forwards have a bit more grunt than before, their backs have always been great to watch.
Still optimistic!!! A game which will help define the season for both clubs.

Wasn't the game at Welford Road last year the one where Ramm somehow got away with shouldering Potter in the face because he jumped into the tackle? Should have been a red all day.Smudger67S wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 8:22 am If it’s down to form, Tigers may not win, if it’s down to discipline Tigers may come out the wrong side of that too based on last years game. Saints discipline in previous seasons has tended to be very poor. Seems better this season with Pearson in the backrow they have more threat at the breakdown and can slow or steal the ball more easily before getting desperate and conceding penalties. Their new defence coach seems to actually turning up for work unlike the last one and adding Davison and Langdon to the front row has improved things there.
That being said we should be going after them at scrum time and if we resource our rucks better then our attack was starting to show signs of life last weekend. Defence will have to be a lot better though Reffell being back will help significantly as no openside left us in a similar place as described above where we couldn't effectively slow or steal the ball at the breakdown and then it's hard to stop momentum without conceding penalties.

Let's be realistic about today - it is a game we should win, it is a game we can win and it is a game that COULD define our season due to the fact that there are 6 fewer games and we can't afford to drop any further behind the others and hope to catch them up. I agree we are very very close to the best available side but I would have started with both Scott and Cole. I also think that Mike Brown is very unlucky to miss out but can understand it.

On paper we’ve a great XV, even in the backs we match up pretty evenly.trendylfj wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:03 am Let's be realistic about today - it is a game we should win, it is a game we can win and it is a game that COULD define our season due to the fact that there are 6 fewer games and we can't afford to drop any further behind the others and hope to catch them up. Yep season can really lift off with a win today. Followed by Gloucester away then Newcastle we could get some wins on the board.
A loss at home in the derby and then we’re really struggling to get anything this season.

Not a good start for Heyes at the scrum, not sure why Cole didn't start personally
