Not sure the mandatory rests apply to non-English players or those who have announced their retirement?
Tigers might feel they need to rest some players but are not required to do so.

No they don’t. It is down to the individual player and how they feel. Gloucester and Bath both have World Cup players back.
I think we might see Cole, Wiese, Pollard, Youngs starting with Montoya, Chessum and Steward on the bench

Whilst I do not think for a second that the board would be involved in selection matters, this is a big marketing match. First post World Cup home match, 2 world cup winners the England contingent back etc. As many of those as are fit will be on the pitch and those that are not will be very visible around the ground.
The club will want a big statement out of this match with regards the playing expectations for the season and with regards promotion, PR and selling tickets.

Are we in "must win" territory for this one?

Very close already! A couple more losses and results the other way and top 4 is a mile off already

Not necessarily for the league itself, but we need to win to get going in the season.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Had this match been scheduled for last week I am sure that some of the returning World Cup starts would have played.......GB72 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 1:59 pm Whilst I do not think for a second that the board would be involved in selection matters, this is a big marketing match. Exeter having been scoring a shed load at home but lost in their only away fixture to Quins.
The point was made during commentary last week that Exeter having been using a much smaller number of players than other sides, even in the PRC, due to the number of new players they have. This has been an advantage but other clubs are now getting big name players back and have had a chance to analyse Exeter.
That being said they will probably go the other way

Totally agree. I suspect that we would have gone out full strength and sarries would have rested players of the fixture had been reversed.Tigerbeat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 3:07 pmHad this match been scheduled for last week I am sure that some of the returning World Cup starts would have played.......GB72 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 1:59 pm Whilst I do not think for a second that the board would be involved in selection matters, this is a big marketing match. Do you feel that is in doubt then ?Tigersunited wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 6:06 pmDefinitely, on many levels, especially for the credibility of the new head coach.

I just think we need a win for confidence levels really. Shorter season means we don't have the time to get into the season as well.
