He got injured in his first training session at Tigers and has been out for about 6 weeks but is back. He mentioned it on the Radio Leicester podcast yesterday.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work
Reports are appearing (Telegraph on Twitter) that Watson could be out of the world cup with an injury. That brings up a whole host of questions regarding his current contractual position. Who is responsible for medical care and rehab, if we have not agreed to sign him until after the World Cup, can we do so now or should be do so now. Can we pay the extra few months of salary and stay under the cap.
All sorts of possible ramifications.
My hope is that it is just a minor knock, all is fine and he will be in the World Cup Squad.

Indeed, injury now could make things interestingGB72 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 1:28 pm Reports are appearing (Telegraph on Twitter) that Watson could be out of the world cup with an injury. First and foremost it's gutting for him to be out
If he's RFU contracted they have to sort his rehab...
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

An Injury for Watson now would put him in the worst possible negotiating position

Stronger comments on social media that both Daly and Watson are def out, but not seen official confirmation. Disaster for the players (and England) if true.
I'm starting to think it's not bad not to have more Tigers involved, given the attrition rate...I'm on the naughty step accordingly

hopefully Arundell steps up and takes his chance, real point of difference potential thereScott1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 2:44 pmTerrible news,Watson is a far bigger loss than Daly would be!Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 2:42 pmDaly back after this weekend, seems Jonny May is Watson's replacementmarkharbtiger wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 2:28 pm Stronger comments on social media that both Daly and Watson are def out, but not seen official confirmation. I do wonder if now he's injured it may mean we find out the destination of Watson post World Cup sooner than waiting for England to finish their campaign...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work
I suspect so as, even if England are carrying the cost, I suspect that the do not have the staff of facilities to deal with a long term rehab over a number of weeks/months. That is better carried out by the club.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 3:33 pm I do wonder if now he's injured it may mean we find out the destination of Watson post World Cup sooner than waiting for England to finish their campaign...

If Watson hasn't signed a contract yet, he is now nicely up the creek.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

If he hasn’t signed anything, anywhere, I’d say deservingly so.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 6:12 pm If Watson hasn't signed a contract yet, he is now nicely up the creek.
