No confirmation. He could still move elsewhere. If they club weren't semi confident though they'd have announced him as a leaver.

Hmm, reckon we'll miss out somehow. He wanted to move further south didn't he?

Think I'll just assume he's gone until I hear otherwise.

I think if he wasn’t staying club would announce it as it would leave us a back 3 player short so we would need a replacement
Doesn’t help with planning if he is mucking us around

We are in a very weak position in all this

End of World Cup assuming uninjured at that stage, has a break for a few weeks, available for Europe then away for 6 Nations back in April available for play offs and Finals of we qualify as I expect us to. Personally I would want him to sign for until the end of the following season to make it worth while.

In theory yes, but you might have expected such business to have been concluded and for any new destination team to have been announced. That he is still listed on our team sheet, suggests he's staying. But who knows...

We’re not in a weak position.
If we have cap set aside and Watson decides to move on, then we have mid season budget available for either a World Cup bolter, or dare I say it, to capitalise should another club do a Worcester/Wasps/Irish.

Not really name another Prem club that don’t really have current starting wingers

The RFU are only paying for the RWC if true so realistically which Prem club would be keen enough to challenge our offer?

And that’s before looking at title chances etc

Reality is no one is in a strong position

The one thing we don’t know is the position of Watson and his agent in all this. I’ve said before as good as he is there will be other back 3 options available with not that much a drop in level at lower cost who is available for more of the season.
If he is pricing himself out of the market then it’s his lookout and I hope in many ways Tigers are forcing him to make a decision.

That being said one of our brethren, sorry forget who, seems certain he signed a new contract a while back

If he hasn't signed yet the amount we are offering him should drop every week, also, if he suffered a reasonably serious injury at the RWC he won't get any offers.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

As long as we have cap set aside that is,which no one knows. And if he does go who will be available then? Although the RWC might turn up a gem,who knows? It is a weak position though going into a season not knowing if he is gonna be our player after the RWC,but maybe we do know 😉

Who said it has to be prem? Has he said he wants to stay in England? My apologies if so

Who said it has to be prem?
In the article
"French clubs, including Castres, had been circling Watson and it is thought the RFU was encouraged to make its move at the behest of England head coach Steve Borthwick, who wanted to keep him in the Premiership – and thus available for selection – after the World Cup."
So this deal means no one outside the prem

So if we don’t come to terms with him and no other English club wants him,who does he play for then and who pays his salary?
