Does anyone know when Borthwick will announce his England RWC training squad? Also any ideas how large it will be?

i read somewhere i was going to be a huge squad (70!!) and it is due to drop any day now

My understanding was Borthwick contacted circa 70 players to see if they were interested etc but didn't think the squad was going to be that big?

My understanding was Borthwick contacted circa 70 players to see if they were interested etc but didn't think the squad was going to be that big?

They also mentioned that there'd be extra players in the initial training squads due to the mandatory post-season stand-down.

Saints and Tigers players will be a week later and then Sarries and Sale a fortnight after that. Obviously that presents problems, particularly in a position like scrum half (Mitchell, JVP, YBY and Quirke all on longer stand-downs). Borthwick is starting the RWC training prep as soon as allowed (12th June) but Saints/Tigers won't join until 19th June and Sarries/Sale on 2nd July.

So you can easily see an initial squad of 50-55 or so being announced (including the players from the play-off clubs), which will be whittled down as the players become available.
