Agree, seems in the vein of Ashton, Brown et al. Proven operators that seem unwanted for whatever reason.
Completely agree if the price is right..

Cam Henderson makes the wider training squad

As expected, Matt Scott does not...
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I'm trusting Wigglesworth over Fissler who's saying that his move to Sarries is almost there...

What sells more chip wrappers? Player expected to stay put and no change, or player moves to high profile big spenders?
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Well he would certainly be mad to move to Irish in their current financial woes........

Rumours are Sarries fancy him as well. Sounds like a straight shoot out if he wants to stay in the Prem, England contention.

The daily mail article on Watson staying with us states we're looking at signing him with no form of central contract. So no support from the RFU.

Talk about unfairness in rugby. Sarries can get away with murder unless caught out. Here we have another likely example, with the RFU giving them a big hand.

I, for one, would be happier if we could afford him without RFU involvement. The less we have to do with them and the precedent of help with funding sets the better IMHO.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

Let's not forget our own salary cap breach and sizeable fine...

It was nowhere near the level of Sarries cheating. They chose relegation rather than open their books so god knows how much they were over the cap

The two are completely incomparable (25% from Sarries vs <1 to ~2% in each season Tigers were over).

Tigers' previous management thought they were exploiting a valid loophole but by the time the salary cap manager came along and disputed that all had changed at the top. There was no point fighting it as it was only ever going to be a fine and they could easily have run up legal bills getting on towards the amount of the fine anyway.

When it was set up it wasn't even a loophole, the original salary cap was very much pro players getting paid outside the cap directly by sponsors!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/rugby_union/509684.stm

This is a news story from 1999 (i.e. when our scheme started) with the Bristol Chief exec quoted details how the extra payments were always anticipated to be made extra to the cap coming direct from the clubs.
Goooooodeeeeeyyyyy!
