Re: Formerly of this parish
TBF to him our setup whilst he was coming through was terrible
Especially for a young winger.
Pretty much looked shot of confidence before Borthwick. You think about it from that group only Simmons is here still in the backs and he didn’t play more than a couple games pre Borthwick due to injury.

Haven’t seen this posted. Sione Kalamafoni has played his last game for the Scarlets after picking up an Achilles injury.

A shame for him. He was a good player for us but it shows the difference in the type of 8 we had during his time with us to where we are now and how much go forward Wiese is able to provide us.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 9:37 am Haven’t seen this posted. I'm not diminishing Kalamafoni at all - he was my favourite player at times in those dark seasons - but I wonder if he only stood out for us so much because he was surrounded by such a poor pack.
The amount of times the poor bloke was just chucked the ball and asked to crash up the middle, AGAIN. It's a wonder he wasn't permanently crocked.
Great player and a great bloke by all accounts.

Agree with you on that. Never shirked a carry and would always get his head down and go into contact but didn't break the gain line very often. Gloucester, as I remember, used him very differently as they were more a ball in hand side than a bosh it up the middle side.bendy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:13 am I'm not diminishing Kalamafoni at all - he was my favourite player at times in those dark seasons - but I wonder if he only stood out for us so much because he was surrounded by such a poor pack.

Was surprisingly athletic for a big fella. Saw a video of him jumping around 5 feet high onto a platform from a standing start.

Yes Sione is off to Vannes in France as part of the Scarlets clear out; also Tom Price ex Tiger Academy and also ex Exeter has been "released!" from Scarlets too. Unsure of where Welsh Rugby is going, certainly not up..Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 9:37 am Haven’t seen this posted. Nephi Leatigaga: Came on in the 37min of the game the Waratahs played away at the Blues Result 41-7 to The Blues.
that can't have been to easy to have gone back & then 48hours later playing, Good luck to him.

Suspect he'd been in Aus more than 48hours, may have been there a week or two sorting out the move
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

He has been there sometime, there is an article from the Sydney Morning Herald that said about 4 weeks, he played a club game last weekend.....another example of poor communication from Tigers.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 9:55 amSuspect he'd been in Aus more than 48hours, may have been there a week or two sorting out the move
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Simple fact, compared with other teams & sports we aren't very good at communicating with the supporters.ay2oh wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:27 amYou really love an opportunity to bash the Club don’t you.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:20 amHe has been there sometime, there is an article from the Sydney Morning Herald that said about 4 weeks, he played a club game last weekend.....another example of poor communication from Tigers.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 9:55 am

If we want to be the best team in the country that shouldn't just be on the pitch.

It is your bug bear isn’t it. 2 points, firstly does it really matter, secondly it might not just be a matter of putting a press release out, you have 2 teams and an individual to considerWayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:31 amSimple fact, compared with other teams & sports we aren't very good at communicating with the supporters.ay2oh wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:27 amYou really love an opportunity to bash the Club don’t you.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:20 am

I remember almost ' Wiesesque' shimmy and sidestep against Bath to score a try from about twenty yards out.
The wife asked me once why he played for Tonga. I explained. She asked if he had needed to find a Tongan relative as he wasn't good enough to play for Ireland. ??!!?? She thought his name was Callum O'Foney and he was Irish. Never lives it down.
