Whether you think summer rugby is the answer or not, I think it's crucial to acknowledge that the status quo is not an option anymore. Premiership Rugby and its clubs have said something MUST be done to significantly increase revenues, for them to survive.

As fans, I think we have to accept that not all the changes necessary will be to our liking. We might find some unpalatable. We might feel like traditions that we hold dear are not respected. We might feel like we don't want to renew our season tickets.

However... if we want our club (and all the others) to still be around in a few years then we're going to have to accept change.

There are only two ways to make the game sustainable and that is increase crowds or cut wages. Can’t see the players accepting a large pay cut. You could improve attendances a little by having all of your best players available all season but the RFU are too self important to allow this so honestly don’t know what the answer is so the future is looking a bit bleak .

For me, if rugby were played in the summer, I probably wouldn't bother with it.

Firstly because I am always busy in the summer.

Secondy, I wouldn't enjoy the game as much as it would have to then suit hard, hot conditions, so less mauling, rucking, scrummaging etc, which for me is ALSO a very important part of the game. It doesn't mean I don't like running (rugby) and kicking, but not just that. If I wanted to watch that, I would watch 7s, which is also normally in summer, right? I therefore don't.

I don't think I would be the only one. I think this would hurt the game more than help it. But, hey, just my opinion.

Step 1 of that I believe is voting in favor of the board proposals for us to accept the funding from Tom Scott and Pete Tom today

Hopefully that is something we all agree on.

Now that the vote for additional funding has been accepted do we know whether the approval by the government has been given or is it still pending ?
