So a perfect short term injury cover...longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:18 pmYup, he is indeed.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Comparable player is at the salary cap managers discretion, takes into account position, salary and experience, but also mitigating circumstances such as timing, how long the player will be at the club and "prevailing market conditions". So not a black and white call.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 7:42 pmCould he replace Wiese actually?

I doubt that Launchbury as a Wiese replacement would get turned down given the standard Wiese now performs at and Launchbury having been below his best for a while. Likewise if he were replacing Chessum I highly doubt it would be an issue that he has 65 caps compared to Ollie's 9.

I think the comparable player is to stop say a prop going lame for a long period, and the club using the funds to sign an international centre. It’s more positional than caps or experience dependent

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season
This is what the regulations state about it (well regs from the 19/20 season) in the Injury dispensation section
(d) the proposed replacement is the same position as the Injured Player or could provide cover for the Injured Player;
(e) the proposed replacement has either an equivalent level of experience to the Injured Player or has less experience than the Injured Player;
(f) the Salary payable to the proposed replacement is either comparable to the Salary of the Injured Player or is lower than the Salary of the Injured Player;
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

So then would a 65 cap international for a 7 cap international break subsection (e)TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 11:30 am This is what the regulations state about it (well regs from the 19/20 season) in the Injury dispensation section

I think you could argue when it comes to that level of player, that experience level is being a T1 test capped player?kpj tiger wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 11:33 amSo then would a 65 cap international for a 7 cap international break subsection (e)TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 11:30 am This is what the regulations state about it (well regs from the 19/20 season) in the Injury dispensation section

Either way, from the rumours I've seen Launchbury is in the UK for personal reasons and is expected to be going back to Japan shortly to complete the season. Before starting next season with Quins.

I think there is something about an injury dispensation player being signed for a minimum of three months, we haven't got that much of the season left, I am not sure we could present a case that signing a lock is essential in the way that we could if we were desperately short of a front tower of possibly even a scrum half..

The issue is obviously the injury to Wells, due to club policy we have no idea how serious it is.
Martin and Henderson are a great partnership and Snyman always puts in a shift. I would be happy for Lewis Chessum to make the step up if necessary

If the injury spans 2 seasons it's only 8 weeks not 12 they have to signed for I believe.johnthegriff wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:07 pm I think there is something about an injury dispensation player being signed for a minimum of three months, we haven't got that much of the season left, I am not sure we could present a case that signing a lock is essential in the way that we could if we were desperately short of a front tower of possibly even a scrum half..

April, May and June. Three month contract. New contracts normally take effect from 1st July iirc so there's no standing on Quins toes or creating issues for us.johnthegriff wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:07 pm I think there is something about an injury dispensation player being signed for a minimum of three months, we haven't got that much of the season left, I am not sure we could present a case that signing a lock is essential in the way that we could if we were desperately short of a front tower of possibly even a scrum half..

So where does that leave us at 9 if JVP and Lenny both go to RWC

Plus maybe Simmons as bench cover...
Either way I think it makes a Scrum half a likely signing.
