Trouble at London Irish?
I wonder if the OHC move might have been him preempting issues at LI.

Seems there might be trouble at t'mill again.

To be expected especially if they are looking for investors and I really hope they survive. To me it’s hardly a vote of confidence when the current owner says I’ll give them away for nothing.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:28 amBeen categorically denied by the clubRugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:09 amThey have been rumoured to be in trouble for a while. Must be true then. Very open wording in the statement too.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:28 amBeen categorically denied by the clubRugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:09 amThey have been rumoured to be in trouble for a while. Random question then, playing devils advocate... IF London Irish go into administration, and their results get wiped.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:33 amTo be expected especially if they are looking for investors and I really hope they survive. For example we've got 9 points from our two matches against them, many of our playoff rivals have done worse than us...

It's a tough one. Arguably its a far better location than Reading in itself is a very good facility; as a visiting fan there's little to complain about. In geographical terms it's obviously slightly closer to their traditional home and I suspect given the grounds available, and the proximity of Quins to Sunbury, the closest they could get,Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:09 amThey have been rumoured to be in trouble for a while. This month....In regards to recent media reports, London Irish can categorically confirm that all staff will be paid this month. Anything reported to the contrary is pure speculation.

It'd put us a point above Saints and six ahead of Exeter (who would also only then have two games left, one of which is against us)TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:42 amRandom question then, playing devils advocate... Taking the facility on its own I agree. My point was they aren’t going to pick up many new fans of floating fans with their proximity to 2 more established sides and throwing Ealing into the mix as well, and with them not owning the ground the opportunity for them to make money is very limited.Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:43 amIt's a tough one. In some ways it’s a similar Nomadic story to Wasps, although they have tried to stay as local as possible
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season
If this is the case, and I hope it is not as London Irish play some good rugby, how long before Ealing come sniffing about for a merger and we get Ealing Irish and they get the league spot they so desperately want.

Financial woes - Newcastle & London Irish

Seems not just London Irish, but also Newcastle Falcons have been putting statements out denying rumours of financial difficulties.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season
I think what they have done is picked up the best location with a view to using their brand to attract fans. At the same time they've given themselves the best chance of getting bigger crowds in - as we've seen with their derby fixtures. But agree, the money making potential is small, and the Chairman knows that. And they've probably driven the last nail into the coffin of The Ealing Project.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:55 amTaking the facility on its own I agree. Re: Financial woes - Newcastle & London Irish
The Newcastle situation is interesting, particularly given the willingness to let some of their best players out mid contract.
Re: Financial woes - Newcastle & London Irish
It seems like they might get there wish of a 10 team league sooner rather than later.

Losing Falcons would be a huge blow for the sport in that area of the country, though they have never been the same since Sir John Hall and Rob Andrew.
