Round 22 of the Top14 gets under way tomorrow:

Racing v Bordeaux/Bègles
Brive v Stade Français (Brive are 9 points adrift of 13th placed Perpignan and simply have to get a bp win against 2nd placed Stade Français to be in with a slight chance of avoiding relegation to ProD2, and hope Perpignan get nothing at Toulon - a tall order)
Montpellier v Castres
Toulon v Perpignan
Pau v Clermont
La Rochelle v Bayonne

And on Sunday evening:
Toulouse v Lyon

Top14 round 23 results:

Bordeaux/Bègles 23 Lyon 19
La Rochelle 26 Clermont 23
Bayonne 33 Montpellier 30
Brive 22 Pau 17 (a win for Brive, but I fear it's too late to save them from relegation as 13th side Perpignan beat Racing)
Castres 31 Toulon 18
Perpignan 30 Racing 21
S Français 19 Toulouse 10 (an under-strength Toulouse side went to Paris as they play Leinster next Saturday)

1 Toulouse 71
2 La Rochelle 70
3 SF 64
4 BB 58
5 Toulon 57
6 Lyon 56
7 Racing 56
8 Bayonne 54
9 Castres 49
10 Montpellier 49
11 Clermont 46
12 Pau 42
13 Perpignan 39
14 Brive 31

Round 24 will be played on May 6th/7th:

Clermont v S Français
Lyon v Perpignan
Montpellier v Brive
Pau v Castres
Racing v Bayonne
Toulon v La Rochelle
Toulouse v Bordeaux/Bègles

Unfortunately, Brive are almost certainly relegated to ProD2, and they need to win their last three games, Montpellier (a), Castres (h) and Toulouse (a) and pray that Perpignan lose their last three, Lyon (a), Toulouse (h) and Castres (a).
For me, the most disappointing sides must be reigning champions Montpellier and Clermont, 10th and 11th respectively, who surely would have hoped to be challenging for the playoffs, and they may not even make the eight places for the European Champions' Cup.

Don't honestly know, maybe it's a cyclical thing, but with Clermont, their forwards no longer seem to have that factor of invincibility, and they've lost a few matches at home which was unthinkable a few seasons ago.

Gabin Villière, a live-wire winger, is back from injury and will be in Toulon's starting XV in Sunday's home Challenge Cup semi-final against Benetton.
If he remains injury free, he'll undoubtedly be in the French first choice XV for the World Cup.
With Villière and Penaud on the wings, defences had better beware!

Jack and Tom Willis may well be opponents tomorrow evening when Toulouse play Bordeaux/Bègles in the Top14.

Round 24 of the Top14 was played at the weekend and there were some great matches.
Last night, Toulouse beat Bordeaux/Bègles 31-17, securing a semi final place. Antoine Dupont was in majestic form, as was Jack Willis. Brother Tom played 8 for Bordeaux and he too, had an impressive game.
The biggest surprise, however, was bottom club Brive winning at current champions Montpellier, which means they are only four points behind Perpignan in 13th place.
It seems that Toulouse and la Rochelle have sewn up first and second places, but the four playoff places are far from decided with Stade Français, Racing, Lyon, Bordeaux/Bègles, Lyon and Bayonne are all in contention and Clermont and Montpellier could mathematically qualify.
To remind you that the 14th-placed club is automatically relagated to ProD2 and the 13th will play for Top14 survival away against the runner-up of the ProD2 final.

Toulouse 31 B/B 17
Clermont 32 SF 16
Lyon 41 Perpignan 31
Montpellier 26 Brive 27
Pau 40 Castres 3
Racing 55 Bayonne 14
Toulon 8 La Rochelle 23

1 Toulouse 75
2 La Rochelle 74
3 SF 64
4 Racing 61
5 Lyon 60
6 B/B 58
7 Toulon 57
8 Bayonne 54
9 Clermont 51
10 Montpellier 50
11 Castres 49
12 Pau 57
13 Perpignan 39
14 Brive 35

Round 25 to be played on May 13/14:
Perpignan v Toulouse
Bayonne v Clermont
Brive v Castres (Castres' away form is poor so Brive have a real opportunity to move up to 13th as Perpignan will play Toulouse)
Montpellier v La Rochelle
B/B v Pau
Racing v Toulon
S Français v Lyon

Round 26 is on May 28th:
Clermont v Racing
Castres v Perpignan
La Rochelle v S Français
Lyon v Bayonne
Pau v Montpellier
Toulon v B/B
Toulouse v Brive ( a tough last match for Brive who'll be hoping to play a less than full strength Toulouse)

All 30 ProD2 matches have been played. Here's the table:

1 Oyonnax 111
2 Grenoble 87
3 Mont de Marsan 86
4 Nevers 85
5 Vannes 81
6 Agen 77
7 Colomiers 70
8 Provence 69
9 Béziers 65
10 Aurillac 65
11 Biarritz 60
12 Rouen 58
13 Montauban 54
14 Angoulême 52
15 Carcassonne 52
16 Massy 33

Oyonnax and Grenoble are automatically in the semifinals, and in the playoffs, Mont de Marsan are at home to Agen on May 12th and Vannes go to Nevers on May 11th . Carcassonne and Massy are relgated to the Nationale division.

The final round of the Top14 will be played on Sunday evening May 28th with a lot still to play for.
The only certainties are that Toulouse and La Rochelle have already qualified for the semifinals, which will both be played in Real Sociedad's stadium in San Sébastien on June 9th/10th, and that Brive will play in ProD2 next season.
Stade Français, Racing and Union Bordeaux/Bègles have qualified for the play offs (June 3rd/4th) and will be joined by Lyon, Bayonne or Toulon.
However, home advantage is important and the clubs finishing 3rd and 4th will have that advantage, but the clubs in 3rd, 4th and 5th are away in the final round so lots of permutations are possible. Here are the fixtures for May 28th:

Clermont v Racing
Castres v Perpignan
Lyon v Bayonne
Toulon v UBB
Pau v Montpellier
La Rochelle v SF
Toulouse v Brive

The table as it stands today:

1 Toulouse 79
2 La Rochelle 74
3 S Français 66
4 Racing 66
5 UBB 63
6 Lyon 62
7 Bayonne 58
8 Toulon 57
9 Montpellier 54 (defending champions Montpellier won't make the playoffs)
10 Castres 53
11 Clermont 52 (the once mighty Clermont need a bp win and other results to go their way to qualify for the Champions'Cup)
12 Pau 47
13 Perpignan 43
14 Brive 36

Finally, the first 8 will play Champions' Cup next season, so Clermont, Castres and Montpellier could still qualify.

We now know the games in the Top14 end of season playoffs:

June 3rd - Stade Français v Racing
June 4th - Lyon v Union Bordeaux/Bègles

June 9th - 1st semifinal Toulouse v Lyon or UBB in Saint Sébastien
June 10th - 2nd semifinal La Rochelle v SF/Racing ..

June 17th - Final at the Stade de France

June 3rd - At the other end of the table, 13th placed Perpignan travel to ProD2 runners-up Grenoble for a playoff to see who will play in the Top14 next season.

In the ProD2 final, Oyonnax beat Grenoble 14-3 and will play Top14 next season.
