Given the complete domination physically on Saturday we really need players who can win collisions. Martin adds that. Ted Hill could as well. It's such a shame Underhill and Barbeary are struggling with injuries for that reason. Both are fantastic in contact.

9.Quirke 10.Ford 11.Arundell 12.Kelly 13.Lawrence 14.Watson 15.Steward
16.LCD 17.Marler 18.Sinckler 19.Martin 20.Ludlam 21.JvP 22.Farrell 23.Daly
As said above if Underhill and Babeary were fit I'd probably have Barbeary at 8 and Underhill on the bench. We'll need to see how they recover from the latest knocks though. If they aren't fit then Tom Pearson is worth a look at IMO. Back row is certainly a big concern after Saturday.
Manu and Slade would be the other two centres I'd have in the squad. I'd also keep Malins in the squad but as a reserve fullback rather than as a winger.
Coley as the third LH still. I'd like to see VRR in the warmups as a LH option. Though I don't actually think Mako has been poor off the bench this tournament to be fair.

Re: Who is in your World Cup 23?
If SB can put together a team that gets us to the QF in the World Cup then he has done well.
England are well behind the best, Ireland, France, NZ and SA are superior in all aspects of the game, even Scotland and Australia have far more potential at the World Cup than England. Sadly we fit somewhere around Argentina/Italy currently, with Wales just behind.
I think Japan and especially Samoa could do a job on us in the pool games.
SB will need time to build a team with a winning mindset and have the skill set to do this. I think since the last World Cup EJ slowed the process of England rebuilding and we have slid back to the start where SB needs to reassess fully and build a core of players, as well as finding 1 or 2 world class players which every top team has.
I feel it’s going to be a few dark years for England but in SB we must trust!! He turned a bottom of the league Tigers team into league champions in a couple of seasons.
This week is massive for the current crop as a whooping by Ireland could be the knife in the back for a number of the old guard and destroy confidence in the younger ones.

Alex Dombrant although a brilliant club player, I believe this 6Ns has shown he is far from an international 8 :(TTRITH wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 1:37 pm 15. Freddie Steward

I think Manu will come roaring back, he wont have liked being left out and we do need some muscle mid field.

Trying to base any sort of plan involving him is a large leap of faith, that's as much an issue as how he is actually playing.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

I know we aren’t very good but Wales is a stretch
Re: Who is in your World Cup 23?
Edited!! To be fair though England sit with Italy, Wales as very weak nations at the moment!!Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 2:49 pmI know we aren’t very good but Wales is a stretch
Re: Who is in your World Cup 23?
I fear Barbeary is unlikely to be fit if he needs a knee reconstruction.
Hopefully it’s not that serious.

Those bemoaning Stewards lack of pace,I'd bet a hefty wager that he is quicker than Brown who was at one time one of the worlds best defensive FB. To borrow a football phrase "the first 5 yards are in the head". As he gets more experienced his decision making will get better and if people watched the trys properly they will see that most of the time he's been hung out to dry!

How much ? Just asking
Re: Who is in your World Cup 23?
Plus speed is a very basic equation ie distance over time …but please consider the variables that Brown adds to this equation beyond being fast to catch a high ball ! This is very much a value judgment
