Re: Welsh woes
Rugby has certainly got itself into a mess but the WRU seems to be falling to new lows. I really have to question why they chose this last year to make the women's squad professional when it seems they can barely keep the men's squad going (not intended to be a slight against women's rugby I want them to be professional just seems the WRU can't manage its finances in a sensible way)Old Hob wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:35 am A report that 12 players have been summoned by WRU and told they are facing a huge paycut.

Re: Welsh woes
This has been a slow car crash coming.
Perhaps started when rugby turned pro.
Had the historical clubs joined an Anglo-Welsh league would things have been different?
Regions don’t have the same passion than your home town club.
Perhaps the rise of soccer was another spanner in the works.
Being in a league with the Ireland training squads has made it hard for sides to be successful and build a big fan base and the revenue that comes with it.
The so called Gatland’s law has limited opportunity for players on the fringe of the national side. It’s probably made players who are dual qualified think twice about moving to Wales having seen some like Holmes go from Premiership to bench to championship.
