This was my first thought. Cronin did not look comfortable when he came off, but West is a very very tidy addition. Pleased with that. He’s one of those that is perhaps just under international level but performs to a high level. Equally, could be a reaction to Cole and Heyes being picked by Borthwick, so Leatigaga will be required more at TH.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 10:10 am Very good signing West. Does it indicate Cronin could be out for a while

It didn't say injury replacement so maybe fingers crossed it's not too long.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season
Good signings both. Miell noted that hes joining the senior academy, so doubt we'll see too much of him this season.
Ok he's a Loosehead but West is a good signing there and actually gives us 6 fit senior props
LH: Whitcombe, West & Van Wyk
TH: Hurd, Leatigaga & Richardson
(Obviously Leatigaga & Richardson cover LH too but suspect they are primarily TH cover with the signing of West)
It will be interesting to see where Van Wyk sits with West. Since his red & Wigglesworth taking over Whitcombe & Leatigaga have been selected ahead of him so I suspect his time at the club may be coming to an end.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I think regarding Miell at 18/19 he hasn’t stopped growing yet and the odd snippet I’ve seen loves some ball in contact.
That age Dan Cole was still playing some 8, where he started off, so the reverse journey could be possible

Also just seen on Instagram that Van Wyk has just had a baby so expect him to maybe have a week or so off

I didn't know that about Miell, RB - apologies!RagingBull wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:48 amMiell has been playing Loosehead this season at school level too.RunTigerRun wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:44 amTom West is a loosehead prop, Miell I believe says 2nd row and maybe backrow (probably similar to Chessum, Martin, Hanro style)
Actually seems like he has played in every forward position at school level
Impressive versatility that!

Not unusual for some of these big Boks lads from the likes of Greys and Paul Roos to move around. Just seen an article from May 22 asking if he was the best u18 player in the world.RunTigerRun wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 11:16 amI didn't know that about Miell, RB - apologies!RagingBull wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:48 amMiell has been playing Loosehead this season at school level too.RunTigerRun wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:44 am

Seen some match reports listing him at prop, some at second row.

Miell comes from one of the best rugby schools in the world. Just watch the atmosphere at the start of this game vs Bishops- https://youtu.be/gA_6hUyHUpMRugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 11:36 amNot unusual for some of these big Boks lads from the likes of Greys and Paul Roos to move around. Miell has been playing Loosehead this season at school level too.

He was on the bench for the game. He will be used to a very competitive environment.

If he is being muted as the best U18 in the world, why is he on the benchTigers86asw wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 12:29 pmMiell comes from one of the best rugby schools in the world.
