Hi

Understand that the Townsend rumour is being discounted anyway, but I don't see how two ex half backs (Townsend & WW) would work together as the top dogs anyway.

I would have thought that one of the pair should be an ex-forward so as to get the right balance in the team.

So if the Townsend rumour was correct that would indicate WW was off ?

Townsend worked with Mike Blair seemed to go fine.

Tigers won’t have two top dogs again I don’t think. IF it did happen it would be
Townsend -HC/DOR
WW - backs

Townsend to tigers on the front page of rugby paper

Yes it’s more about coaching knowledge rather than who played where

I’m getting flashbacks of Daly playing for England!

Recruiting Gregor Townsend would be a real statement of intent from the club. I'd be chuffed with that.

Hope there's a space for WW. I could be completely wide of the mark but in this interview I think the subtext is that he sees himself as a coach but perhaps not a Head coach just yet https://twitter.com/btsportrugby/status ... gscqg&s=19

Does this signal the hand of Gregor Townsend at work?

It's all a bit of an odd appointment but the "numbers" need bolstering, the press release suggests numbers throughout the club.

So, if Townsend is incoming, and he would like Wilson on his coaching staff, could some of the RFU money be spent on ensuring Wilson doesn’t make it on to the Quins coaching roster for next season?

It may be more that he wants Wilson’s opinion on the clubs running before his arrival.

Forwards and lineout specialist has left the club, lineout and forward specialist joins the club. Wouldn't say it was particularly odd. I suspect Wilson will be doing the analytics and planning the lineout tactics for the next game each week and adding as a sounding board for Deacon and Wigglesworth.

He's a relatively high profile option that's currently unattached until the summer. Pretty much ideal situation for both parties.
