As you say this was the plan all along with Borthwick joining up with Jones after the season ended and then taking over fully after the World Cup, we were pretty much guaranteed to lose Borthwick after this season anyway. Except the RFU bottled it with Jones and have most likely cost themselves £1 million+ for the pleasure of doing so.

Well the RFU did not release Borthwick to us early and maybe Borthwick and the RFU had an understanding over his England future and return. How much Tigers bought into that we shall never know. What we do know is that Borthwick did not sign a contract extension at Tigers. Seems he knew sonething that only he knew and perhaps Tigers suspected.

Few things in this;
1) Big test for Pinchen. Been very impressed so far but this appointment and next phase for tigers is curricula.
2) If Borthwick and so does WW we are going to need at least 2 possibly 3 to replace them. We will need an attack coach and a forwards coach depending on who comes in.
3) Tigers are right to keep hold of Kev and Waters- we won’t have anyone left otherwise- who will take the team on Saturday?

Is Aled a qualified rugby coach or does he solely focus on fitness. Obviously he will have picked up a lot of knowledge on the way.

Brett has been giving reports during matches so for this weekend i suspect he will be in charge.

As we dont know the contract situations they could all be free to leave on the 30th June.
It's very easy to think the RFU saw Tigers (due to previous woeful management) as the perfect place to get their presumed heir some on the job training with no real downsides...he either sinks & the mess we were as a club is the reason or we improve & it's all Borthwick.
The complete lack of any press release from Tigers speaks volumes, the mushroom treatment continues, with a new head man Bondi might be freed.

If Borthwick does go as expected, I really hope the new man will allow Bondi to shine fully. I thought the interviews over covid were quality, and was hoping these would continue. Hopefully things like that will return if new management comes in.

presumably they are under contract and we are within our rights to not release them, unless they have a release clause of courseRugbygramps wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 5:17 pmShowing my lack of legal knowledge again but is that allowed, or are there different rules regarding assistant coaches to Head Coaches.Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 4:14 pm Telegraph saying we won't allow Steve to take Sir Kev and Aled with him

Sir Kev was a very successful head coach, I could see us giving him the job with a DOR to do the admin side of the job, like Exeter have, Dean Ryan is not a hands on coach himselfRugbygramps wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:42 pm Is Aled a qualified rugby coach or does he solely focus on fitness. Excellent post! Tigers happy to continue to treat us all like mushrooms. As Cockers once said "the club exists purely for the benefit of the players".Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:46 pm As we dont know the contract situations they could all be free to leave on the 30th June.

What more can they tell us. They won’t stand in his way and they have been contingency planning. Apparently they were only contacted this afternoon. What do you expect, updates as they happen?

Re: Next England Head Coach (Pre &/or Post World Cup)
ever stop to think there is currently nothing to tell us? The RFU have likely made an approach but not yet offered enough compensation for Tigers to give permission for Steve to leave, until that figure is met then there really isn't much to say, I don't want the club negotiating in public.sapajo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:59 pmExcellent post! In more general would it be nice if the next DOR gave some details regarding injuries yes, but its not killed us to not know either

It amazes me that anyone thinks Tigers should (or have anything) to put out in terms of a PR or statement.
What can they say when there will be NDAs and contractual obligations all in place in such circumstances?
“We have seen the news regarding Rddie Jones being sacked by the RFU. That is all.”

They won't stand in his way but level of compensation and when Borthwick actually leaves to join up with England are key areas for discussion. There's also the issue of his coaching staff and whether any will accompany him.
I agree there's nothing for the club to say until discussions are completed. Keep it behind closed doors. Far to much was done publicly in the past.
