Martin Corry could play lock, 6 and 8 as well. Got him onto the bench for 2003. Newby was pretty useful covering across the backrow to a high standard and even doing a decent job at centre.
I agree with ABC, versatility isn't new and is a very useful thing to have available to you particularly during a long tough club season as it helps with rotation.

What a player Corry was! Almost coached England to a 2007 RWC winsam16111986 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 7:03 pmMartin Corry could play lock, 6 and 8 as well. Got him onto the bench for 2003. Newby was pretty useful covering across the backrow to a high standard and even doing a decent job at centre.

Newby was International Standard in all 3 back row positions, if he wasn't a Kiwi he would of got as many caps as his knees would have let him.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

He is playing with loads of strapping on his right leg - suggests he may not be 100% fit. https://twitter.com/LeicesterTigers/sta ... TBWQUgwVKQ

Understandable, but he will be missed!!! Kim and him have been through so much recently, so he has to put family first, but my goodness he will be missed. He may not be the longest club servant but he was instrumental in our turnaround from also rans to champions, so glad he got silverware with us!
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Ps I suspect the late night timing of this is due to the club he's moving to having their announcement plans in a different time zone.
