Monument ready for stadium installation

Post by Qbec »

Can someone tell me what happened to the original design of two tigers prancing toward each other, as it now seems we will just have the head of one tiger as the gate monument.

As shown: Tigers Foundation monument project update, 8th Nov 2018

It got scaled down in 2020 when the club's finance's took a hit. I don't know if that means the club was originally funding some of the project and subsequently decided against it, or if public donations weren't as much as was hoped for and it was just coincidental timing with the pandemic. Or... other.

I don't mind the single head tbh, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished concourse. Should be a great space once it's done - I'm hoping it'll be before the end of this season.

The completion date for the hotel was given as Spring 2022 so it should be before the end of the season.

Someone on the Tigers unoffy site said that they had been invited to the monument unveiling in September . As someone who bought one of the commemorative coins a while back hopefully we will all get a similar invite.

I have always believed that the proposed statue of Mrs Tuilagi was the best idea ever had.

Maybe a bit dated now...

Still yet to receive an invite to the unveiling of the Tigers monument despite sending two e-mails to Sam Swift. Has anyone else heard anything ?
