HOW MANY FOREIGN OR OVERSEAS PLAYERS CAN PLAY IN THE PREMIERSHIP?

It is important to note that the legal definition of foreign players is different to one of non-English players. In addition, players can fall under the Bosman or Kolpak rule. The Bosman ruling reinforced the Treaty of Rome in a sporting context, allowing the free movement of EU national workers around other EU countries. This effectively means any EU national has the same rights as any ‘local’ worker and therefore cannot be defined as a foreigner.

In the Premiership, the rule on foreign players has been amended to come into line with the regulations in European competitions. A maximum of two foreign players can now be in the matchday 23, at all periods during the season.
I’m not sure that page is up to date, it certainly isn’t for promotion and relegation. I was under the impression that the foreign player rule had been ditched for this season.

I'm also really happy with Pearce, and after last week's show, I would be happy with CMK again.

I just hope the team start to gel again. This is the first time ever, that I have been really upset about an injury to Owen Farrell. We are really missing Ford IMHO.

Assuming Moroni, Montoya and Hegarty are our “Foreign players” don’t think all 3 have been in the same team at the same time
Moroni will have an Italian passport, it is an Italian name (which is basically all that is required, even if it was his 4xgrand father he would qualify for an Italian passport) and he featured in all the weird combinations the year before.

I think the reason he was missing is that he got injured, reportedly, not seen by me on TV, at the end of the Wasps game.

Edit to add all three were in squad to play Northampton & Harlequins. You could check if they were all on the field at the same time if you wished? Hegarty was unused against Bristol but again all three were in the squad.
Goooooodeeeeeyyyyy!

Matais Moroni

Post by SirGordonRamsey »

Apologies if there is a thread elsewhere but does anyone know what's going on with Moroni? Just seen the team vs Worcester and he's missing again.

Do the coaching group not like him?

IMO he's class and there was chat a while ago about him wanting to renew his contract.

Had a look at last weeks team run out of interest and couldn’t see Kini or Moroni in any of the training footage so suspect we might be having a bit of a injury problem with the backs

We look very short in the backs - Freddie doubtful to get through a full game too - praying for some non injury luck !!!

Got to say my thoughts.

Happy with that team, there is a plan to smash them upfront and we have loaded the bench.

Moroni missing again to me suggest injury or overseas issues (if Hegarty and Montoya are our 2 overseas players)

Nadolo still not fit it seems
