You can't be too critical of the man because of the unfathomable turnaround Tigers have experienced since his arrival but full blame for the capitulation today must lie squarely at Steve Borthwick's door, which perversely is good because I now know that he is human and capable of mistakes like the rest of us!

Taking Burns off and putting JVP at fullback was a brainfart, it seemed so at the time, amplified in hindsight.

Why not just swap Burns and Hegarty? Burns can do a job at fullback, moreso than a promising scrum half who, albeit one with a big future, is still earning his stripes in his specialist position, letalone in a totally different specialist position. Hegarty seemed no better than Burns at flyhalf today and gifted good opprortunities to Sale that they unfortunately converted into points.

Tigers are good enough this seaon for this to be a blip, I just hope that our very capable leader refrains from such seemingly impulsive positional experiments in future. COYT!

compared to JvP 0 at full back meaning Wiggy who was clearly out of gas had to stay on? it was a dumb decision its ok to say it, you won't have to stop being a Tigers fan.

Also if Hegarty was our 10 cover then Socino shouldn't have been on the bench a proper 15 should have been ...
Clearly what we're saying is that Socino at 10 wouldn't likely improve things. Using Socino at centre to get a gassed WW off the pitch, JvP to 9 is a different story.

9.JvP
10.Hegarty
11.Saumaki
12.Socino
13.Kelly
14.Porter
15.Potter

We could have finished with that for instance which I think would be better. Socino at 10 however would most likely not be.

then again I say he shouldn't have been selected, either Lancaster, an actual 10 or Kini should have been there, that change completely disrupted the team, Socino is far more of a 10 then JvP will ever be a full back.

Oh and I just checked the club list Socino as a centre/fly half so they say he plays there

Haven’t seen the game yet but hang on.. we are 21-5 up then Burns goes off apparently injured, JvP goes to FB and Hegarty switches to FH and we implode and end up leaving with nothing? Sounds like a strange old game that…

Once again just goes to show how rubbish it is for the top clubs during the 6N.. Tigers, Sarries, Quins and Exeter all lost this weekend with Wasps, Sale, Irish and Bath the beneficiaries.. always hated the top teams being penalized.. much prefer the way it’s done in football. That said I had high hopes for this 6N window with a strong looking side on paper.. guess it’s different on the pitch..

Borthwick has always seemed to be a straight shooter.

Personally I suspect Burns had a niggle, Burns probably thought he could play through with it. However Borthwick decides that first game of Internationals being away is not the one to lame your fly half in, especially if leading by so much.

I'd have gone Saumaki to wing, Potter to 15 & Hegarty to 10. However Borthwick chose differently. The credit he has in the bank far outweighs the negative from today. Let's move on to next week
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Regardless of who's injured or who's fault it is a 5-0 loss from 21-5 up is an absolute howler! Shocking!

Like many I am somewhat baffled by the JVP to full-back substitution, but we also need to balance our frustration with the fact that Sale did outplay us in the second half. At 21-5 up I felt we just switched off as if the job was done, and never really got our intensity back, and Sale didn't let us. As I say, agree about the JVP choice, and the loss of defensive focus when Scott went off, but to be honest I thought we let them them through our defensive line quite easily today.

The game defining moment in many ways was after they went ahead with a penalty we went for a short restart which went 9.5 metres their winger catches it and scores in the corner.
That being said Sale’s bench completely turned the game on its head

Which goes against everything that he’s built so far with the club. Basics, clear direction and clarity on everything that we do. But now he’s lying !? I don’t think so.

Well there is and as far as I know we’ve never met. But people must call it as they see it

Bad day at the office, mostly of our own making.

Ah well, luckily we’ve had many, many good days at the office this season. As a team we’re miles away from where we aim to be.

Alternatively…..

Borthwick out, lying scum.
