Tonga appeal

Post by CJ »

The devastation looks dreadful. Do we know if Hosea Saumaki has managed to get through to his family and how they are?

I haven’t heard yet of any appeal from the DEC but is there any way that we can support the people of Tonga and show our support for HS particularly? I know he’s not been with us long but I also think we already know what an asset he is to our club. I vaguely remember an appeal from Scott Hamilton after the earthquake in New Zealand so perhaps there is something similar.

Be great if we can, like we stepped up for Kevin Sinfield’s effort, can help.
Must be a huge worry being here playing for Tigers while family and friends are in such a desperate situation.
Good luck with the fund.

That is indeed good news. Do we know yet about Hosea’s family? Must be so worrying for all Tongans

Unfortunately not at the moment. Incredibly tough mentally to carry on playing and training with that hanging over their heads.

There’s an update on Hosea’s gofundme page (no apology for repeating the link here https://gofund.me/cf0b19b0). With the money raised so far he hopes to fund restore 7 seaside villages and is arranging to send the money via his brother in Tonga. Not too late to donate!
