Post by Scott1 »

Whitcombe
Montoya
Cole
Wells
Snyman

Reffell
Weise
JVP
Ford
Nadolo
Scott
Moroni

Hegarty

Ladygaga,Dolly,Heyes/Van Wyk,Green,Chessum,Liebenberg,WW,Murivalu

Depending on whether Heyes is with England, like the 6/2 split, especially playing Sale, which was mentioned by OakhamTiger and if so Murivalu in the 23 shirt. If it’s 5/3 Burns and Porter in.

Don’t think you’ll be far away. 3 points for me , would rather start with Liebenberg, what’s the situation with Nadolo and his fitness, would like to see Saumaki given another run if he’s not fit.
Finally where is MVS. I totally get Borthwick keeping his cards close to his chest re injuries but it would be nice to know if it is the concussion, or as I think I saw elsewhere is there a leg injury too

Sale is such a difficult place to win at and they’ve had a good run out today with their top players all in the squad.
Hopefully we will put out our strongest side. As I’m going I don’t want to see another Wasps’ like performance so for me Kelly, Moroni, Hanro must be in the squad. I personally think MVS is a really serious injury so could be out for a very long time. I was at Saints and am sure he had a concussion injury there too!

Hi. No. Our medical team are always brilliant but he went into tackle low and got smashed! It was such a hectic game( so good to beat Saints and was sat in the middle of their fans who took it better than I thought!) I am sure that’s why he went off but he was ok after the game! Well he was chatting with fans.

Looks close to it I’d imagine RB! Must be close between Kini and Porter for the 23 shirt, but if Moroni is there I guess that’s your centre cover! Back depth even with Steward, Youngs, Ford away is very good!

It really was a very serious injury on Boxing Day at Bristol, I would be surprised to see him before Mid Feb. They took ages to bring him round and then he looked totally out of it when they finally got him to his feet.

Nadolo is injured I think, just going by the Rolling Maul podcast, who I’m sure mentioned it was a nerve related injury. Not sure there was any more detail than that.

Thanks for that a nerve injury would make sense as he looked ok making his lamb burgers

I had missed the news on Fords call up so that won’t be far away RB. Maybe with Burns knowing he’s going to get a run on games will help with his confidence.

Always a tough ask playing away to Sale. Really hard to guess what Borthwick will go for with no real updates on Liebenberg and Van Staden. The fact Hanro was playing golf and training gives me hope that he might feature and Henderson must be in line for a return soon.

I would go for:

1. Whitcombe 2. Montoya 3. Cole 4. Wells 5. Green 6. Martin 7. Reffell 8. Wiese
9. JvP 10. Hegarty 11. Potter 12. Kelly 13. Moroni 14. Saumaki 15. Burns

16. Dolly 17. Van Wyk 18. Leatigaga 19. Snyman 20. Liebenberg 21. Robinson 22. Wigglesworth, 23. Porter/Murimurivalu

Might be a bit too much for Robinson to slot straight in to the starting XV so would have him on the bench and start Reffell. Prefer Hegarty at 10 and Burns at 15 and I'd start JvP to keep the tempo up early on and have Wigglesworth on the bench to sure things up later on. 6/2 split for me with both Burns and Hegarty starting.

Something like this would give us a really solid pack with good impact off the bench. Massive loss losing Ford but I am very happy for him and it's a very well deserved call up.

Dolly did really well early season, but let’s be honest he isn’t an international hooker. Does anyone feel that Clare has done enough to reclaim the bench hooker spot

Possibly, IMO they're very different players. Clare has the edge at set piece and Dolly is more dynamic round the park, so it depends what you're looking for.

Also given we've possibly got someone like Liebenberg coming back from injury, I think having another player with experience of the back row on the bench isn't a bad thing.
