With a midfield of Smith, Slade, Marchant you probably need some heft elsewhere in the back line. A back three of Hassell-Collins, Steward, and Nowell is pretty solid and offers some carrying options. Dombrandt is also used by Quins to carry in midfield. It works well off front foot ball, but can he tidy up scraps?
Didn't work because Farrell would never pass to him!

No Matt Scott selection for Scotland but Hutchinson gets picked.

So good news for our game v Saints

Unbelievable. Farrell is neither in the top 3 FHs or top 3 12s at the moment. What is disappointing is the talent been held back by this decision.

Strange that Hastings has not been picked leaving Glaws with someone they may have expected to lose. Longhorn seems to be back up 10 11 and 15!

Wow. Just swallow your pride Eddie, for goodness sake. It cannot be good for squad morale when a guy literally doesn't have to do anything and he's in the squad. It also doesn't look good when others are made scapegoats for the poor showing in the last 6Ns and have been jettisoned yet a guy who was possibly worse than all of them gets EJs full backing. That sort of inconsistency from the coach doesn't usually result in team harmony.

Seems that Townsend rates both Hogg and Kinghorn as better 10 cover.

Hasting's isn't a perfect 10 and does struggle for consistency at times but even so it's a pretty harsh call from Townsend IMO. I live in Edinburgh, attend a fair few home games these days. His Scotland selections are often referred to as the Townie Tombola. Give it a fortnight and Hasting could be starting ahead of Russell for all anyone knows!

Slade playing for Exeter in France and being reported as fully vaccinated, so that's good news for England.

Potentially good news for England, and bad for us if Ford gets the nod...
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Shame about the injury but yes great news for England! Can’t play your way into form in a 6N ,he could potentially miss all of it. Although wouldn’t put it past Eddie starting him in our second game v Italy!

Yes good news for Ford potentially, however given how EJ likes versatile players on the bench, it wouldn't' surprise me if Furbank was preferred as a "finisher".

I wouldnt wish injury on anyone, but it could be good for England to really see what they've got if Farrell can't play. Seems like EJ needs to have his hand forced so he (rather than Smith) isn't relient on Farrell.

Well said :smt038 Wouldnt wish injury on anyone, least of all someone who is clearly a key leader and driver of standards in the squad. Who’s next in the firing line I wonder ? Bit difficult now Vunipolas are out of favour as well.

Says something though when the majority of England fans are not too upset that he’s out
