Champions Cup - 21st - 23rd January 2022
Tigers' group B
After next weekend's final round of group games, the best position that Tigers can hope for, I think is 2nd.
Quins (currently 1st) are at home to Castres (9th) on Friday night and will surely win comfortably against a Castres team with little interest in advancing.
Munster (3rd and 1 point behind Tigers) are at home to Wasps (8th) and who'll probably finish in 8th. A Munster bp win?
Bristol (4th and 2 points behind Tigers) are away to Scarlets so a Bristol win can be envisaged.
Tigers (2nd) home to Bordeaux/Bègles (5th and already qualified, but with little chance of getting higher). Bp win, please!
Connacht (6th are away to Stade Français (10th), who have probably abandoned all hope of qualifying. Win for Connacht.
Toulouse (a lowly 7th!) are home to Cardiff, so a winning bp is a cert (especially if Antoine Dupont makes his return from injury, as he's expected to do!)
Group A
We'll begin at the bottom (pardon the expression!)
Glasgow (8th) are at home to La Rochelle (3rd). Glasgow win, no bp?
Montpellier (9th) are at home to Exeter (5th) so I can't see them qualifying.
Clermont (5th) go to Ulster (2nd) so they won't move up the table and could be overtaken by Glasgow.
Sale (6th) are at home to Ospreys, but even a bp win probably won't be enough to move up.
Leinster (3rd) go to Bath (11th) so only one result there!
Racing (1st) are at home to Northampton (10th) so only one result there too!
With the crystal ball out, Tigers (with a bp win, of course!) could play either Glasgow or Clermont on a home & away basis on the weekends of April 8-10 and 15-17, I think.
So we can safely book our tickets for the QFs!!

8. Clermont
B
1. Quins
2. Tigers

Exeter v Connacht
La Rochelle v Bristol
Sale v Munster

Leinster v Toulouse would be worthy of the final. Toulouse would need to be at full strength and a have favourable ref too, to have a chance, but it'd be great to kiss goodbye to Leinster before the QFs!RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 6:38 pm Montpellier don't want to go through.

Dupont and up to 10 Toulouse players have tested positive for Covid I believe.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Falcons vs Toulon is off due to 9 positives in the Falcons squad, so likely 5 points to Toulon

Toulouse are currently 7th with Wasps and Castres below them so as I can't see either of them winning, Toulouse should still qualify for the last 16.
