I think it usually takes a while for the nomination to be made and checked, and the letter to the recipient offering them the award goes out something like six weeks in advance. So possibly a bit too late for the NY honours. Who knows?

He is a very humble person and may not want it….who knows. I would hope to see it in the Queens birthday honours list later in the year.

Submissions for new years honours are made well in advance of his run last year, so it was unlikely until next time.

Maybe he’s a principled republican and so turned down an award (as do many people); my already high regard for his character would go through the roof if this proved to be the case!

MBE awarded, and accepted, for services to Rugby League, in 2014 Queen's Birthday honours list and OBE awarded, and accepted For services to Rugby League and Charitable Fundraising, in 2021 Queen's Birthday honours list.

Next award in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee list? :smt002

Ahh ok didn't realise his OBE was quite so recent, may explain the lack of knighthood as yet...

It’s not five years between awards. Look at all the Olympians who get an MBE for one gold medal, four years later get another gold and OBE, then another four years and another gold and a CBE, another four years to a knighthood, or dame hood.

But as you say he will always be Sir Kev to many, many of us.

I don't have Sky Sports News, but there is a documentary with the same name that has been broadcast on the BBC News channel and is available on BBC iPlayer.
