Top14 round 12 results:

Stade Français 25 La Rochelle 20 (good to see SF climbing out of the relegation zone, particularly with a win over La Rochelle)
Clermont 39 Biarritz 11
Castres 25 Racing 3 (a bp win for Castres against an out of sorts Racing - who are in Northampton next weekend!)
Lyon 45 Brive 0 (an under-strength Brive side got what they deserved - a spanking)
Montpellier 30 Perpignan 6 (Montpellier have moved up to 3rd - influenced by Tigers bound H Pollard)
Pau 16 Toulon 16 (Toulon will surely improve when Etzebeth and Kolbe are selected)
Bordeaux 17 Toulouse 7 (Disappointing game from Toulouse, but a good preparation for the Tigers by Bordeaux)

The table with each team having played 12 matches:

1 Bordeaux 42
2 Toulouse 40
3 Montpellier 35
4 Lyon 31
5 La Rochelle 30
6 Castres 29
7 Clermont 29
8 Racing 25 (the wheels are falling off the Racing wagon)
9 Pau 24 (former Tiger Zack Henry, who didn't play on Saturday, is considered to be a good signing)
10 S Français 23
11 Toulon 23
12 Brive 21
13 Perpignan 18 (the two promoted sides are propping up the table)
14 Biarritz 18

Round 13 is to be played on Dec 26th/27th

Brive v Clermont
Toulouse v Stade Français
Biarritz v Montpellier

This will be interesting, only vaccinated players will be allowed to play rugby in France after 15th Jan.

So that means away games in Champions cup or even the 6N games may have some unusual squads...
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

What if we have a team playing in France, say Chiefs at Montpellier for example, and they have a few who havnt been vaccinated. Would it be fair on them to have to send a weakened team? It could get very messy. I’m not singling anyone out btw ,just making an example.

If France pass a law requiring vaccinations for all close contact sport to be played.

Given the medication involved is fully approved here in the UK and freely available, I doubt unless there's a valid (medical) reason they cannot have the jab, that any leeway would be given.

It is not as if this is brand new for rugby. The lions tour required all involved to be vaccinated.

The only thing is potentially if there's not time to complete the vaccination process between announcement and enforcement (ie. the requirement for 3 weeks between jabs) that could be tricky.

Got a feeling a few players will be having their club onto them saying they need to get a jab sorted sharpish.

Any leeway in the sense that if a player still declines the jab and can’t travel he could be disciplined by his club? Like I said it could get very messy. Just cancel the whole tournament, that would be a lot better IMO.

Well I doubt the club can force a player to get a jab as I doubt it's covered in their contracts.

The most similar thing I can think of is there have been instances in various sports where a player has been unable to obtain the correct visa for playing in a different country so weren't available for some away games in European competitions, it is just a thing the club needs to manage, though they will put as much pressure on players they want available as they can.

First off, the competition is not going to be called. There's too much money involved, the tv contracts will have to be honoured.

Secondly, I have no idea whether a club can force a player to get a jab, but choices have consequences. If a player decides to exercise his choice to not get a jab and thereby remove himself from selection, his employer would be likely to reconsider their value to the squad overall. They may well be marginalised for future games by the club and the rest of the squad (who may feel let down), and come new contract time, find a reduced offer on the table or none at all. I have no doubt that those players who haven't been vaccinated and, inevitably, contracted Covid and caused cancellations may be feeling pressure from their employers/colleagues already.
I've got a bad feeling about this.
