Re: Hotel
Few modern buildings are, it is not unattractive from what we can see but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, to a non rugby person our stadium hardly ranks a a work of art, I have even met people who do not like the Crumbie Stand strange though that may be. The hotel looks functional and when finished with a bit of landscaping I am sure it will enhance the area more than a flat empty car park or even the Granby Halls that used to exist on that corner.

Work underway on the erection of the steelwork for the wide sweeping canopy linking the two wings of the hotel.

It was not built speculatively. Marshall's contracted with Bespoke Hotels before construction. Here's a link to the operator....https://bespokehotels.com/brooklynleicester

Their first UK hotel is in Manchester

The hotels are themed around 1920's/1930's Brooklyn. Think Al Capone/Batman.

Getting close to the finishing line. Hard landscaping well underway and the road facing fencing has been removed to begin work on the new road kerbs and paving. A little bit of the facia work to finish off and I'm guessing that most of the interior work relating to the rooms is complete. Still work going on inside the glassed atria at the front. I would expect completion to be some time in April/May

Hotel “Brooklyn”? Sorry I am not seeing the connection.

look 3 posts up the thread
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….
Re: Still stuck in the mud! - Development updates
Sorry I was not clear in my question, let me have another go.
Why choose to theme a hotel built on the side of a famous rugby ground in England around a densely populated New York borough 3000 miles and almost 100 years away.
According to Wikipedia there is a town called Leicester in New York State, but it’s not near or related to Brooklyn, and has no connection to Leicester in England.
Is there some connection I am missing, or is it just chosen at random.
Re: Still stuck in the mud! - Development updates
Somehow doubt it will be up for architectural awards.
Re: Still stuck in the mud! - Development updates
Crazy that with the technology these days that architecture has gone backwards at an alarming rate. Some of these new buildings actually make you feel sick when looking at them.

Tigers did not come up with the concept for the hotel and will not be managing it.teds wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 3:13 pmSorry I was not clear in my question, let me have another go.

Hotel Brooklyn is a brand by a management company called Bespoke Hotels, who will be operating the hotel.
