Re: Reffell still not in the Wales Squad
As others have rightly mentioned Wales have great options across the Back Row.To me however it is inconceivable that his time will not come. From a Leicester point of view I hope that time is a distance away....

Re: Reffell still not in the Wales Squad
I have always argued that the foreign player rule of both the WRU and RFU should not count for players playing in Great Britain (perhaps maybe Ulster too). Perhaps if the leagues and unions came together to be more lenient over the release of players then something like this can be arranged, but that’s quite the if admittedly.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

But PRL would be involved so forget it happening.

Has Jonah Holmes played for Wales since he was forced to leave us to stay eligible?
Jonah Holmes has been named in the Wales side to face Canada on Saturday!

Fair bit of competition in the back 3 for Wales, first choice 3 are all in the Lions squad.

Re: Reffell still not in the Wales Squad
well that's kind of my point he was forced to leave a club where he seemed to be happy in order to not play for the Welsh when he could still easily have been available for them whilst playing hereMJB wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 3:43 pmAt a guess, 0? Re: Reffell still not in the Wales Squad
Agreed. Let's hope he puts in a good enough performance to keep his place in the squad.

hopefully someone like Cory Hill will challenge that rule in court, at the very least playing with in the UK shouldn't make you ineligible for your country and lets face it in this day and age there is no reason to stop any player playing for their country no matter where in the world they play.

It's whatever now really.
I have yet to see the benefits of these "returning" players for their clubs just yet.
Holmes and Moriarty did go to the Dragons but guess what Dragons are still a bottom team in the pro 14.
Josh Adams has been absent for Cardiff.

Whilst I understand that the Welsh are worried all their players might leave, crippling the franchises, it must surely be illegal restrictive practice to stop people working where they choose, if it is not illegal it should be. The pressures applied on individuals is more than just saying if you leave we won't pick you, this is coercive action before they are selected, shame for the players. The Scots have always picked players from abroad, even those "kilted kiwis" who had never been to the country. England used to pick players who played abroad but then stopped doing it citing they couldn't get early release of players for training as they could from the premiership, a sad and sorry mess where league fixtures clash with International matches.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

give the IRB has recognised international windows stop trying to hold training camps outside of those windows and there isn't a problemtigerburnie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:10 pm Whilst I understand that the Welsh are worried all their players might leave, crippling the franchises, it must surely be illegal restrictive practice to stop people working where they choose, if it is not illegal it should be. As there are only 4 real professional sides in wales , if they didnt have the rule then most players would chase the money and move to england or france, then you would be left with an uncompetitive league in wales and the attendances would be even lower than they are now.Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 2:22 pm hopefully someone like Cory Hill will challenge that rule in court, at the very least playing with in the UK shouldn't make you ineligible for your country and lets face it in this day and age there is no reason to stop any player playing for their country no matter where in the world they play.
Cory Hill knew the rules , he's chosen to move from wales so knows he wont play , why should he then challenge the rule in court
