No Offence to Dolly but he would hardly be considered a Montoya replacement if he was severely injured.
The multi-year deal side suggest that he's has been on Tigers radar.

A likely scenario would be OTY retires end of season which leaves in order of selection: Montoya, Clare, Kerr and Dolly. Kerr will get a lot more game time with the usual injury/resting/international issues so unlikely to move, seems like a decent set up to me!

Either OTY has said he wants to retire OR Kerr is off, personally I think Kerr off is more likely as I think he wants to be no.1 or no.2 somewhere, even if OTY retires atm Kerr is no.3 behind Montoya and Clare.

Dolly is 21 so a good youngster to be bringing through.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

That I think is cap induced, he may well of been the guy brought in to cover till Montoya arrived, he came early we let him go. Mamukashvilli was never really wanting to be 3rd or 4th choice, a young 21 year old makes more sense in this role IMO.

Well if Bondi doesn't use this signing to play some Broadway show tunes I will be disappointed....
Do we know why Sale let him go? A bit of caution I used to live down the road from a future up & coming & highly thought of English hooker, he has suffered from injuries & is No.2 at best at Bath.
As for Vanes if he is a hooker who can throw in & scrummage, that will do me it is after all the job.
As for hooker numbers you have to allow for Montoya being away for International duties, that don't line up with the English season exactly.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

" Well hello Dolly " I am in favour of signing good development prospects, in specialist positions we need a minimum of five players, two per Premiership game and two for the A League, so next season IF Kerr moves on we are covered, if he remains we have enough but not too many Hookers. Vanes is a fine prospect but I doubt is ready for the Premiership yet, in a crucial development year he has barely played due to the pandemic. I was impressed by an even younger hooker in our Academy unfortunately I did not get his name but I think the production line is in place and functioning so there will be competition for the position.

Hopefully Montoya will be back soon but thought I read that they were carrying out investigations on his injury and were not sure what the problem was.

I would expect Dolly will be somewhat cheaper and happier to only feature occasionally than Mamukashvili. Having an experienced international as your 3rd/4th/5th choice hooker is a bit overkill

Hopefully it is Kerr leaving rather than Tom Youngs retiring. Nothing against Kerr, but I'd love to see TY in a Tigers shirt for another year or two.

According to a Sale fan on Twitter, he's one of 3 really good young Hookers they had, but they only had space in the squad for two.

With him and Vanes coming through we haven't gone eggs in one basket with a youngster, makes all sorts of sense this signing to me.

It was leaked (then confirmed by an angry SB about the leak) that he has had minor surgery, which I guess is why we brought Dolly now rather than end of season to give extra depth to the squad.

Assume this means Kerr will be probably leaving end of the season?

This is most likely the case.
Keep it at 4 fit senior hookers.
Youngs, Clare, Kerr, Dolly
then
Montoya, Youngs, Clare, Dolly

When you add Montoya, Nemani and Brink to that squad looks very strong
