Apart from the ref,how were we?
Mixed.
Some really good individual performances, like JVP was outstanding I thought.
But like other games the good got cancelled out by the bad really quickly and twice as hard.
It felt like a game where if we kicked like we did v Worcester a good win, why we can't kick consistently I really don't get.

Not too bad a result for us. We didn’t play to our best, had numerous players not playing and Quins are in good form and had most of their best players playing. We are still within reach of the top 4

You were lucky not to have seen it Scott1. Frustrating afternoon of Quins being their usual selves, riling us up and getting away with murder. Some moments of magic from JvP and a few positives, should have left with 1 or 2 BPs but robbed at the death by a questionable decision that Quins hadn’t collapsed the maul that was rolling towards the try line and came down about a metre short!
Smith played very well for Quins otherwise they weren’t anything special. Harsh not to get anything out of today but we certainly didn’t make life easy for ourselves. Unable to deal with nearly every restart in the first half made it a tough ask

5-0 how is that not a bad result?
I explained it in my post that you have quoted
Not a bad performance I grant you, but the result can't be much worse.
No, not that one!
Remember, whatever you do to the smallest of the backs you do to his prop, and you can't avoid the rucks and mauls forever...
I know you don't like it when I boo him but how else will he know he's wrong?

For every good performance there were other players giving away stupid penalties.
Positives firstly were Martin, showed up all over the pitch and also very physical. Would rather see him in the second row but will be a very special player.
Same with JVP, he looked lively and a real spark in attack. Liebenberg and Brink too very good with some big carries. Liebenberg especially is becoming a cornerstone of the pack. Heyes this season has worked much more on his carrying and it shows.
Felt Henry again didn’t exert any control on the game, contrast with Smith who was the focal point for everything good about Quins. Lavanini gave away some stupid penalties. Given Scott and Taute are test players, defence between the two centres was poor. Quins 12 dominated them both.
Think we missed the gainline carries of Wiese today. Would have given some extra momentum.
Young players, JVP and Kelly especially looked at home, largely stepped up. Props concern me a bit for next year - aside from Genge, Cole and on a good day Leatigaga, I think we will struggle. Heyes is still young and has plenty of time to grow more into his role (props do tend to mature later) but can’t help but feel like it makes us weaker when it comes to scrums in the second half or carries and mauling.
It’s not a be all and end all - the progress is seen in some areas. An attack plan would be my first priority though. Use the players in the backs we have and actually get some momentum.
Think we have a chance at beating wasps next week. The league is looking fairly open with results this weekend!
Not a bad performance I grant you, but the result can't be much worse.
A frustrating result. this was an experienced quins side and we were without key players. It wasn't that long ago mid-table was long sought after position
Puts us last in the league peloton unless Wasps lose to Wuss, the performance was there to get the 2 points to prevent that but the result wasn't.
The league is tight. Don’t worry.
And it’s nice to at least be in the peloton for a change rather than languishing behind on our own. Beat wasps next week and we’re right back in the mix. Hopefully we will have Wiese, Van Wyk and Nadolo back and hopefully JvP will get the starting 9 jersey again!
