We're not exactly light on Saffers ourselves these days
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
Wiese surely deserves a look in for the Springboks, as does arguably Liebenberg but too many other backrowers still above in the pecking order for the latter to be selected in my opinion.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

Would not be surprised if Steward went tbh. He was head and shoulders above Watson today.WhitecapTiger wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 5:25 pmfair enough and fully agreelonglivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 5:21 pmThat's true, but they're our Saffas and that's differentWhitecapTiger wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 5:09 pm

He's outplayed 2 of the 3 current England fullbacks since Covid resumption (and won't get a chance against the other). If England have a summer tour this summer and the Lions tour goes ahead can definitely see him getting a chance for a test cap if he's fit and keeps this form.WhitecapTiger wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 6:39 pmFiguratively and often literallylonglivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 5:28 pmWould not be surprised if Steward went tbh. Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Steward could become the English Folau, without the severely questionable opinions...

According to 'The Rugby Paper' (3/1/21 , Neil Fissler) Steve Borthwick has held discussions with tour Management with regard to the position of Lions Forwards Coach.

A petition has emerged online to keep the tour in South Africa but to postpone rather than alter the series host nation :

Sorry, but it’s way too soon. Steward is doing a decent job of nailing the 15 shirt at Tigers. He’s focusing on that I’m sure and I whilst there’s an outside chance of him making the wider England squad, I think it will be a while until he breaks through. Despite doing well vs Watson etc, he’s behind him, Daley and Furbank as well, who Eddie is keen on. Lions ? No.

behind Furbank. I don't think he's in direct competition with Watson either as he'll be on the wing opposite May. I think we'll see Steward in the squad but probably as much to gain experience than replace Daly. Unless there's some injuries than he might get his shot.westwinds31 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:27 pm Sorry, but it’s way too soon. Steward is doing a decent job of nailing the 15 shirt at Tigers. Agree it's to early for Lions talk and there are two obvious stand outs in Liam Williams and Hogg before we start considering the likes of Larmour. If there's any summer games for England than I can see him getting games then.
