I think it’s far more likely Youngs will go now than I did before the Italy game. His form has been superb over this international block, he’s been the best of the British and Irish bunch.

Not many British & Irish scrumhalves impressing that much apart from Youngs and maybe Ali Price, so I think Lenny will be on the tour, as will Genge.

& that could be an issue for the Lions, if your 9 & 10 aren't up to to it in SA you will struggle however good the rest of your team might be.
Genge has a chance but there are decent LHs in the other 4 nation squads.

Looks like the two Covid variants discovered in the UK and South Africa have thrown the tour in jeopardy:

Crazy idea. Swap the South Africa and Aus Lions tours around. Even if British and Irish fans can't travel, the stadiums will be pretty full with the Aus crowds assuming they stay ahead of this with the new vaccines etc.

I just don't think there's any win-win scenario for the Lions here.

Even better, host it in Australia but still play the Boks, maybe just have different midweek teams or even so I’m sure it’s not logistically impossible to have the South African franchises play in Australia too.

For me that’s better than postponing or outright cancelling.

I am not sure at present if Australia would welcome a large party from these shores.
