I'll just be holding my breath every time Nemzy goes into contact.....
Re: Autumn Nations Cup
Anti rugby.........maybe but they played in the rules and rattled England so stopped England from playing an open flowing game.

Re: Autumn Nations Cup
Still comfortably beaten though so in all it was a complete waste of time. Added to a dreadful spectacle to begin with and the Italians wouldve learned nothing.

That's an impressive strike rate! Not sure who the opposition were in those games though...happywomble wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 2:47 pm Mamukashvili starting at hooker at least! Would imagine he will give Genge some advice in the front rows...
Georgia
Backs: 15. Lasha Khmaladze (83 caps, 53 points), 14. Akaki Tabutsadze (3 caps, 30 points), 13. Giorgi Kveseladze (25 caps, 20 points), 12. Merab Sharikadze (67 caps, 60 points, captain), 11. Sandro Svanidze (*), 10. Tedo Abzhandadze (16 caps, 53 points), 9. Gela Aprasidze (26 caps, 24 points);
Forwards: 1. Mikheil Nariashvili (62 caps, 10 points), 2. Shalva Mamukashvili (75 caps, 50 points), 3. Beka Gigashvili (14 caps, 5 points), 4. Lasha Jaiani (2 caps), 5. Grigor Kerdikoshvili (2 caps), 6. Beka Saginadze (13 caps, 5 points), 7. Giorgi Tkhilaishvili (58 caps, 60 points), 8. Beka Gorgadze (28 caps, 40 points);
Substitutes: 16. Jaba Bregvadze (59 caps, 15 points), 17. Guram Gogichashvili (15 caps, 5 points), 18. Lexo Kaulashvili (1 caps), 19. Otar Giorgadze (26 caps, 25 points), 20. Tornike Jalagonia (1 caps); 21. Vasil Lobzhanidze (52 caps, 40 points), 22. Deme Tapladze (3 caps, 5 points), 23. Sandro Todua (86 caps, 65 points)
I'm with Scott on the Italy tactics thing. I'm sure they felt very clever at the time, but were still beaten comfortably. An incredibly short term (i.e. effective for 40 minutes) tactic that no one to my knowledge has bothered to attempt since. What did the Italy players learn from it? Nothing. What did they gain from it? Nothing. Yes, I'm all for innovation, but that is not a good example.

I think it shows just how comfortably they won the 2nd tier tournament...Tiglon wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:43 pmThat's an impressive strike rate! I would also counter that without that tactic they would have lost by more, maybe they should have tried it in a game against a less experienced scrum half or a team they were a bit closer in terms of standard. They probably would have used it again had the laws not been changed.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Struggle to see what Jones see in Jonathon Joseph. Perhaps he is packing the back line with centres....
Re: Autumn Nations Cup
Personally, I loved it! I’d always wondered why someone hadn’t thought of it. It struck me as being similar to Geordie sticking his foot out to take a ball and gain yards of territory. Know your game or get caught out. Showed the England team up good and proper, just a shame they weren’t strong enough to hold out and get rewarded for innovation within the laws of the game.
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

It will be interesting to see how Fiji do, you can't fault the coaching line up, if it clicks they could give someone a fright.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

I would rather see13. Ollie Lawrence (Worcester Warriors, 1 cap)Cagey Tiger wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:44 amAs are all the Ireland games - on Channel 4 that is.
And all the Wales games are on S4C, available on Sky, free. So if you don't like the Amazon commentators, you can watch it with Welsh commentary
12. Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs, 30 caps) swapped around so Slade plays 13 and Lawrence 12

Looking forward to see how Jack Willis makes out on a bigger stage.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....
Re: Autumn Nations Cup
It was a legal tactic that worked very well against a staggeringly stupid England for far longer than anyone would have anticipated. Don't blame the Italians for making a laughing stock of the English team.
I am neither clever enough to understand nor stupid enough to play this game
Re: Autumn Nations Cup
The weaker team helping the opposition to make themselves look stupid for 40 minutes and to keep the scoreline more respectable. You think that's a bad idea?Tiglon wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:43 pmThat's an impressive strike rate! Midi Olympique reporting the France - Fiji match scheduled for Sunday in Vannes (4:15 p.m.) could be cancelled. Several cases of Covid-19 have been detected amongst the Fijians, making it unlikely that the game will go ahead. No individual players named of course.
Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Re: Autumn Nations Cup
Yes, because I would have thought going into a game (certainly at professional international level) without thoughts about trying to win the game is wrong on all fronts, regardless of who you are and the opposition you are playing. Perhaps they did misguidedly think it might actually win the game and I suspect a more switched on side than England at the time would have made mincemeat of the tactics way before 40 minutes, but ultimately it was futile and misguided. So yes, it was a bad idea. Utimately it did noting for them and proved nothing and they haven't empouyed that or similar tactics since. Personally I think it may have been more of an ego trip for Conor O'Shea to get himself noticed.h's dad wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 9:26 amThe weaker team helping the opposition to make themselves look stupid for 40 minutes and to keep the scoreline more respectable. Besides which, England from time to time don't exactly need the opposition to help them look stupid....

Nadolo and Murimurivalu link up with Tuisova to make Fuji’s back 3 v France.
