Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope
I don't expect it to happen but if Leicester Football Club went out of existence there would be no reason why the liquidator would not accept a few quid for the name Leicester Tigers, alternatively there would be no need to buy the name just call the new team The Tigers. Only problem is if our club goes bust others will also have gone and there will be no other teams to play.

Any chance we can get this thread back on topic?

You should read the Telegraph, they gave him 6 and that's still too many!sam16111986 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:13 pmFarrell got an 8 out 10 as well...Cagey Tiger wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 7:52 pm According to the individual player marks out of 10 in the Sunday Times, Johnny May and Tom Curry are Leicester players. Actually getting back on topic
Think it was RB that said Rugby paper was suggesting the following was being looked at
Project LH and TH
Fly Half
Outside Centre
Left Wing
Since then
Lavannini has been injured
Bonilla has been signed
Stankovich has left
That means I think we're looking at signing the following:
Project LH/TH
Lock injury cover
Outside Centre
Left Wing
Scrum coach
Depending on where we are relative to the cap we could be looking to drop one or two of those to cover for Lavannini?

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

With Heyes clearly on England's radar we should probably be looking at strengthening loosehead so that Leatigaga is not required to switch over so often for cover. Gigena is also mentioned in dispatches from the Argentine coaches so it is only a matter of time before they call him up I think.
Genge, Gigena, LH, Bower + young players developing
Cole, Leatigaga, Heyes + young players developing
Is a good group. The young loosehead at the moment is Whitcombe who is highly rated, so I don't think we need a "project" there so much as a player similar to Stankovitch in his prime, a tough scrummaging prop from Pro D2, or the Championship would be perfect. Perhaps Zurab Zhavania who has slipped down the pecking order at Wasps with Tom West's development for instance.

Regarding lock unless Lavanini's injury has been significantly understated I don't see the need for "injury cover", i.e. would leave when he regains fitness.
I do however think that another first choice level lock was a need anyway and that need has now increased. That would push us to 5 first team locks and 4 development locks, which is about as many as we use in a year and is certainly not overstocking, especially as Manz is a ways away from the first team level and Martin is injured.
I don't have many names for that as an example, but given the age profile of our current locks (30,29,27,27,20,20,19,19) a 24 year old like Lukhan Salakaia-Loto is perhaps a realistic target.

I think we'll probably have Heyes the Autumn Internationals at least.sk 88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 7:50 pm With Heyes clearly on England's radar we should probably be looking at strengthening loosehead so that Leatigaga is not required to switch over so often for cover. Personally I think we should be recruiting with the following priorities:
Priority 1. Outside Centre
Priority 2. Scrum Coach
Priority 3. Left Wing
Priority 4. Lock
Priority 5. Loosehead
Priority 6. Tighthead
Whilst I don't think that injury cover for Lavannini is top priority with Enever being a little disappointing (so far), Martin also long term injured, that means despite as impressive as it puts a lot of pressure on the likes of Chessum and Henderson.

I would think Dan Cole and Steve Borthwick should have the scrum coaching under control in the short term, if money has to be spent I would have thought it would go on playing staff in the current situation.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.
