Such an odd selection, I know plenty of players aren’t available but would have thought Ollie Lawrence, Ted Hill and Lewis Ludlam would have been in there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they used the Italy match to cap some that qualify for Wales and Scotland.
I had heard that was a possibility with another before lockdown who qualified for SH nation.

Ah yes forgot. Apparently Ludlam as well not included as he is self-isolating after having played Sale.

It's just a 3 day training camp. Jones wants to look at some players he has never worked with and test them against the first choice players that are available this week.

Half of these players will be nowhere near the Italy game.

I wouldn't read too much into many of the selections, but does maybe suggest that Dan Cole is no longer required.

Yep if say there's a bit of that going on. Good chance to look at some players on the fringes and see what they are like in camp and point them on the path England want in terms of development.

Going back to the qualification point I wonder if Sheedy will get called up again as the third flyhalf on the squad. Get a go in one of the easier games and toe him down to England. Wales are apparently interested and I think he qualifies for Ireland as well.

Really suprised to still see George Furbank, at full back for England he makes Daly look good at fullback

Yes it's on the agenda after the Tomkins thing and Pivac has been seen at so many Prem matches it's reckoned he could have a doppleganger.
I'd pick Sheedy but I'm not sure Eddie's boss Owen would.

My fear was that Freddie Steward (Tigers’ need him to start v Gloucester) would be in the squad though he would have deserved his selection along with Quins’ Morris who has looked in great form every time I’ve seen him play!
Heyes will hopefully have his confidence restored as for some reason he hasn’t moved on after Lockdown!

Why would he move on?
Name another 21 year old tighthead with nearly 50 caps?
Played more games than Painter who is a year older.

I read that as 'moved on' as in developed as a player rather than change clubs.

Ah re-reading it I get it now.
Doesn't help that he's been playing with the B team pack on the whole.
But he's still young.
