Referees

Post by jgriffin »

Did I hear JPDoyle given the boot by RFU?
See Foley still letting blocks, flying shoulder etc as last week.

If ever a decision demonstrated the incompetence, old fart-ery, and self-serving nature of the gover... sorry the RFU, it’s this.

Apparently he has been made redundant.

I thought JP Doyle was one of the better refs... perhaps as one of the most experienced he is also one of the most expensive?

Would not be surprised to see him officiating in the Premiership, just not as an employed RFU ref.

Rumors appear to have mileage with regard to Doyle :

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Hypocrisy would still appear to exist at the RFU however :

What a strange world we live in, a top class ref like Doyle is given his P45 and the raft of incompetent clowns who do not seem to know the laws let alone apply them are kept in employment.
My only hope is that most of the premiership ref's pay is linked to performance pay, so it is cheaper to keep the incompetents, that is the only way this makes any sense.

Tbh, Doyle had been average at best over recent times.

The gulf between Wayne & the other English refs is shocking.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Wayne. :smt005
Never have I seen a ref allow so many to lead with the shoulder first over the ruck for game flow.
I feel like I'm watching teams trying to play to different rules since the restart.
I thought you were supposed to use the arms to ruck, but how on earth can you be using the arms if they're bound on or leaning over to seal off the ball carrier!

JP may have "requested" or asked to take the redundancy for all we know. Suspect that ALL the RFU refs were initially put at risk.

I think he's been on some podcasts not sure if he's revealed the full story or background?

I don’t think you’ve ever been allowed to use the hands to ruck!!!!!!

Thank you CMK.. finally an official that calls teams out for being in front of the kicker at the restart!

Good to see.. now we just need the forward passes and the not straight line outs being picked up and we’ll be getting somewhere!

Funny how we see different things. I’m watching and bemoaning his non existent management of the breakdown that’s resulted in 20 something penalties in 46 mins and no flow to the game. I watched Nigel Owens ref the Scarlets Blues game on Sat and organise the players’ actions throughout. The result was a thoroughly entertaining game with 6 tries.
