OMG, on p26 of this weeks Private Eye, a mediaeval Crusade specialist historian at Swansea University (Dr Simon John) reveals that 'Saracen' was a term invented around the time of the First Crusade (c. 1095) that is a pejorative term (i.e insult) to Muslims! Being a good Welsh man, he makes the connection with a certain London-based rugby union team'! Ach'a fi!
And we were debating the Sandy Park issue!
