Played wing for them and the pumas last year, but you'd expect given other signings he would slot in at 13. Very useful to have that versatility though.duffers wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 12:40 pmGreat signing! He was the Jaguares starting outside centre so I suspect that's where we'll see him line-upRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 12:01 pm Interesting that he is classed as outside back who can play center on the tigers website?
Maybe he isn’t Manu replacement but more Holmes?

Kobus van Wyk has scored 7 tries in Super Rugby this year, no player has more. For some reason he really reminds me of Cory Jane and Adam Thompstone, great all round player. For me the best signing of the lot and an upgrade on Holmes.

Yeah, he could've had a hat-trick in the final vs Crusaders if the bounce of the ball was more favourable:Tiglon wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 12:47 pmPlayed wing for them and the pumas last year, but you'd expect given other signings he would slot in at 13. They’re all described in a similar stance.
Van Wyk is on record as saying he started out at centre, and feels he could go back there.
Porter is described as being able to play centre, wing or fullback
Porter described as a winger able to play 13.

Massively excited now for the season to resume. Great coaching set up! Plus we have a very good squad with a nice mix of experience and youth. Thumbs up to everyone at the club involved.
Seems we’ve replaced pace for power in the back three, here’s to Nadolo, Muri and KVW scoring plenty of tries.

Manu who?
What a great morning - fair play to the club (you do have to wonder how many of these came after the standing down and how many were already planned...)
Even so, very astute and impressive business from the club!

Sale and Saints have gone down the path of smaller squads with versatile players. It's worked very well with them and I'm very happy for Tigers to do the same.FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 1:03 pm They’re all described in a similar stance.

Probably not until the new season. Whenever that starts.SthrnTiger wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 12:25 pm For Moroni says will join “at end of his contractual obligations with Jaguars” Anyone know (or has a good guess) of when that would be?

A very impressive looking squad now, good blend of youth and experience, pace and power. I just hope people give them time to gel because it's not going to be an instant thing and will take time. It will be interesting to see how the match day squad evolves and whether we mix it up in preparation for next season, to see how combinations work etc. I think it would be wise as we seem to have a lot of players in the back line who can play multiple positions, so now would be a good time to see who works well together etc. The forwards will be better I suspect anyway, with Borthwick driving them on. I just want to see smiles on faces, effort and pride in the shirt.

Agreed. There have been almost unprecedented numbers of changes in the playing squad and coaching team. yes, the backline looks very exciting, but so did the previous one! We shouldn't expect miracles overnight.westwinds31 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 1:46 pm A very impressive looking squad now, good blend of youth and experience, pace and power. Will we be playing twice weekly to complete this season quicker anyway? If so we will see a lot of rotation and that could work in our favour for next season
