Again , with July looming we will not have to wait long....
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Truly not interested in Itoje for a handful of games, Tigers gain the least out of it.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Judging by the way Ealing are recruiting I think Sarries may keep him at Barnet.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 10:52 pm Truly not interested in Itoje for a handful of games, Tigers gain the least out of it.
We must consider the draw of a player like Itoje though. Big names sell tickets. Big names in a winning side could sell even more.

To be honest, it wouldn't sit well with me bringing in a Sarries player on loan for a year. I don't mind players like Hughes coming in as cover for injuries etc but bringing in a huge star from Sarries with a view that he'll be back there next season just doesn't seem right.trendylfj wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:01 am Beginning to sound like Maro is staying at Sarries - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugby ... alled.html

+1 esp. when we are planning for the future (hopefully) why have someone for one season.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:18 amTo be honest, it wouldn't sit well with me bringing in a Sarries player on loan for a year. Staying at Sarries won’t affect his England selection, but will it affect his chance of Lions captaincy?

Because, while we're planning for the future, it would be nice not to be second bottom of the table every year.Rykard wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:55 am+1 esp. when we are planning for the future (hopefully) why have someone for one season.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:18 amTo be honest, it wouldn't sit well with me bringing in a Sarries player on loan for a year. Pay out a lot of wages for a guy who will disappear on England duty for many games leaving us even more weakened in the international periods than we have been in recent years.
Had our season continued I do not think that we would have finished second from bottom bearing in mind our form and that of others after players returned from the World Cup.

Hi everyone, I do not post that often but am an avid reader! I would be interested to hear from those in the know what our development back rowers are like? Favoured position and key strengths etc. Smith, Gough and lavin particularly who have been in the squad for a year are likely to get much more game time given comments from Jan and geordan. Watching the NZ super rugby this weekend suggests the value of turnover specialists looks to be increasing. Thanks and hopefully of interest to others.

How does everyone think our prop stocks are? Would we benefit from bringing in a utility prop, for example?

I’m still hopeful Logo will be rejoining, albeit on a contract that may reflect he’d no longer be deemed an automatic starter. Swap for Cortes in effect, but with the benefit of being able to play either side.
Adding Logo, a top lock (Alemanno?), a match day back row option (be that starter or bench), and an additional starter winger (Lewington?), that would finish the squad off nicely. Assuming Potter is the depth option already sorted.
On the development back row, from what 9’d read weren’t Lavin and Gough both seen as 7’s, but Lavin would/could play at 6. Smith was deemed to be a solid physical 8, I think someone described as Corry lite, perhaps a little undersized at the minute?

Have said this many times before but Akira Ioane would do nicely.

Logo would be ideal at the right price. Oisin Heffernan the former Leinsterman at Nottingham was supposed to be heading off to Connacht but there were rumours he's stalled signing because he wants to stay in England as he's EQ. He's made the Championship team of the season and is 25. Someone like that would be a good option though he's a tighthead and ideally we need a loosehead if Gigena is going to get call ups as well as Genge.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 11:55 am How does everyone think our prop stocks are? Next season;
1. Genge, Gigena, Bateman
3. Cole, Heyes
Both. Leatigaga
Dimen is the most senior development prop and he's a tighthead.
We can but dream. Given his age, ability and how well the Blues are doing he'd be right in the All Black frame if he stays in NZ. With the change in management and Read retiring he should fancy his chances. Getting him and Ardor Savea in the same backrow should be a Kiwi priority, maybe with the Highlanders Frizzel as well.
