Not surprised unfortunately, failed to make the step up to senior rugby I'm afraid.

Shame as he looked like he was full of potential in the academy, I suppose with Martin, Manz and the new Scottish lad there just isn't enough room for them allRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 7:52 pmUsually is.

Also Ollie Chessum joining the development squad from Notts with his younger brother Lewis still in the academy.kpj tiger wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 8:31 pmShame as he looked like he was full of potential in the academy, I suppose with Martin, Manz and the new Scottish lad there just isn't enough room for them all
I've been wondering if Bob Singer will get a contract. He impressed at lock this season and emerged as a leader in the U18s. There's so much competition in this batch of school leavers though.

Indeed so. I think it seems less likely that a lock will step up with the arrival of Chessum.

Adding Chessum and Henderson, we’re now pretty well loaded for development locks.
Likewise back row, with 4 players contracted from the last two years intakes (Lavin, Gough, Smith & Eveleigh), plus this years back row looking pretty loaded with age grade international’s (Illone, Smith & Muncaster), development spaces for back five players are going to be at a premium.

So difficult for locks and props to make that step up whilst still physically developing. Cameron Jordan if it is correct he is moving on may well be like Harry Wells or Calumn Green and spend a couple of years at a lower level whilst gaining experience and weight in his muscles. Like others I thought he showed promise but it is a massive step up to Premiership rugby and it is better to move rather than block the route upwards for the next Martin Johnson.

JohntheGriff makes a good point, maybe Jordan will just go to a Championship club for a couple of seasons, like Nottingham, field for us occasionally in Shield games or maybe he might join Big Fred in Colorno.

When I last spoke to Cam he was playing for Nottingham, he was serving a ban, he was a bit prone to receiving cards, sorry if he is not going to make it, I was always a bit doubtful. I wish him well wherever he goes.

I'd agree sadly. I thought he coped really well with rapid changes in position over the last couple of seasons. It's such a talented age group.Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:23 pmIndeed so. I think it seems less likely that a lock will step up with the arrival of Chessum.
Archie Vanes (confirmed)
Jack Rowntree (confirmed)
Emeka Illione
Ben Muncaster
Ollie Smith
I'd say they are nailed on. I hope Kit Smith gets the nod as well but there's already five back rows in the development squad. Kit has stood out for being dominant in contact but at 18 they all have a lot of physical development left in them.
Costelow moving on will probably help Harry Glynn's chances as we don't have a 10 in the development squad anymore.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3
According to today's (3/5/20) Rugby Paper budget constraints could see us fail in bids for Alex Lewington and Charlie Walker (ex 'Quins , now Zebre in Italy ) as Jonny May's replacement.Guess time will tell.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Spittle the Notts winger is allegedly joining Donny.
Charlie Walker gets linked with us a lot, I don't know whether he just doesn't fancy coming back or whether it's just journalists putting 2 and 2 together to get 5.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3
Walker left the academy due to the club wanting him to change school by my understanding? So possibly not his first choice. Rumours that he's joining Ealing on a 2 year deal.
Every Prem club except Bath, Bristol and Chiefs will have limited budgets for next year. Those three are strong in the back three as well so Lewington is out of contract at a bad time.
