Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3
I would be looking for another FB/winger who has got the nuts and bolts ie positioning/defence/good under the high ball etc. When I think back to my starting XV upon looking at it again Nadolo,Veainu,Owalefela whole looking electric on paper would be taken apart by a team with a good kicking game. Could Steward be the answer? Adam Thompstone has been a huge loss for us,a superb defender who reads the game well and commits at the right time,Scully was an amazing defender too.

Oo I’d argue 3, in my opinion Retallick saved the All Blacks’ necks in 2019.Scott1 wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 2:36 pm AWJ is a very good captain and gets that extra 10% out of Wales but as a player I don't believe hes ever bettered an elite opposite number. You compare that with Itoje who iirc has played Retallick (one of the greatest locks I've ever seen) 4 times with the Lions and England and has got the better of him 4 times. There really is no comparison between the 2!

I think that Rowntree and Whitecombe are the development props to look out for in my opinion but I agree that another prop needs to be brought in if Gigena can’t re-sign (which would be a massive shame)!

don't forget about Worth at 15, solid defensively lacks for pace but a more than capable 15 in the Prem

Good call Jimmy! I'd also like to see him at 12 too. Gives us options,I dont rate Eastmond at all

I’m beginning to like the idea of a back three of
11 Nadalo
14 Veainu
15 Henry
11 Nadalo
14 Veainu
15 Henry

Agreed. Had a bit of bad luck at times (like running into Cole going for a high ball at WR v Sarries last season!).Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 4:49 pm don't forget about Worth at 15, solid defensively lacks for pace but a more than capable 15 in the Prem
As for Thompstone, he adds a bit more physicality; if Eddie Jones was Tigers’ coach we’d see him talked about as a similar player (physically) to Nowell, a bit like another back rower.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3
I'd wondered if it was going to be an option. If you look at his YouTube highlights he's got a big boot and likes a touch finder as well the little chip and crossfield kick. Got a good step an offload. Reminded me a little of Freddie Burns (a player I liked at 15). If he's good under the high ball then he could be a great weapon at the back.
Would make us a tough team to play against as well. Kicking to that back three you're going to struggle to compete in the air with Nadolo being massive, TV used to playing fullback and under Geordie's tutelage reall developing that part of his game. You don't want either of them to catch it and bring it back either. Nadolo can kick well. So add in Henry who likes to step and offload and can kick big. Could be good. The secondary playmaker at 15 would allow a bigger midfield to help our defence like back when Murphy was at 15.

Remember the new kicking law 50/20 coming into play next season so 2 kickers is going to be essential

By my understanding the 50:22 rule was trialed in the Australia NRC, is now moving onto America's rugby championship, South Africa's varsity cup and the Italian top 12? It's a long way from the Premiership yet.
Super Rugby, the Top 14 and Pro D2 are planning to introduce the warning system for high tackles where a player who gets two warnings gets a 1 game suspension. They haven't adopted the 50:22 rule though by my understanding.

Thank you will teach me to scan articles. I thought it was past the trial phase, but was obviously wrongABClub wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 7:39 pmBy my understanding the 50:22 rule was trialed in the Australia NRC, is now moving onto America's rugby championship, South Africa's varsity cup and the Italian top 12?
