Re: Chris Ashton leaving Sale
certainly could do worde - but realistic ??
Manu and the Tuilagi clan need consulting prior to any potential move being made
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....
Re: Chris Ashton leaving Sale
Telegraph Sport understands that Ashton now weigh up a mid-season move to another club. Although Harlequins has been mooted as a possible destination, nothing has been finalised.

Unclear whether this is financially driven or some other kind of clash but, judging by the number of moves in his career, Ashton does seem to be very hard to please.

Unfortunately Rugby is getting much more like Football in player transfers in mid season Ugh!!!!!
Quins look to be the favourites alongside Goneva too.
To the world you may be just one person.
But to that one person you may be the world!

Re: Chris Ashton leaving Sale
We assume it was Ashton's call to leave but it could be he's got up the nose of someone or another club has made an offer Sale couldn't refuse.
Not my cup of tea but he is one of the best at running supporting lines in attack (Something we have been woeful at for some time) and boy do we need that sort of skill.

The Club has said it was simply that Ashton wanted to play a different type of game to Steve Diamond.....mol2 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 2:40 pm We assume it was Ashton's call to leave but it could be he's got up the nose of someone or another club has made an offer Sale couldn't refuse.

.....so that's obviously not the reason!
Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Different type of game? Like league maybe - what odds on turning up at Toronto Wolfpack sometime soon...?

Latest according to BBC Sport:
Diamond told BBC North West Tonight: "We had a difference of opinion really, me and my coaching staff think we are on the right trajectory and doing things right.
"We had a disagreement about various things."
He added: "We didn't want to fall out over it but the best thing is to part company.
"It is a bit of a shame but these things happen. We have to put it bed quickly and move on."

When that's happened here (TTTE), no end of rudeness from some keyboard kings.Longshanks wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:28 pm Latest according to BBC Sport:

Re: Chris Ashton leaving Sale
I would imagine the Sale faithful feel badly let down - by Ashton for not being prepared to adapt and by senior management for not understanding better the type of man they were hiring. These break-ups seldom come cheap after all.
Re: Chris Ashton leaving Sale
Apparently he will be telling Danny Care all about it on a podcast. Classy.
To be honest, I never understood why Sale needed so many top wingers, so while he's a very good player I'm sure they'll be just fine without him.
I'd be surprised if anyone has spare cap to sign him this year (does anyone need injury cover in the back 3?) But I'm sure he'll get snapped up from next season at least.

"Former England winger Chris Ashton has joined Harlequins two days after leaving Premiership rivals Sale Sharks."

In my defence, I was left unsupervised….
