with Harrison leaving after tomorrow, is his cap spent for the season or do we get the remainder back? He must be on a decent wage so that would free us to make another signing

Maybe Hughes isn't injury dispensation (I don't recall seeing it confirmed), but using Harrison's cap money.
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Salary caps work on the total amount actually spent in the season - not the projected amount. So we "get back" the salary we would have paid Harrison to use elsewhere. However, as this was a known exit, his total salary for the season would have been known from the start so this is not an actual saving - we may well have already spent/budgeted for it.

Rugby paper saying Cardiff blues are after Joe Heyes

Although the writer thinks he is a loose head and he would be replacing Carre as their long term Jenkins replacement.........

He said yesterday on RL that his contract was a 6 month contract so nothing to contribute.

Heyes is Wales qualified isn't he, could see why Cardiff would want him but surely he is seen as Cole's long term successor at Tigers

Youd hope so. But he's behind Leitigaga in the pecking order.

Wales online started a tenuous rumour some time ago because he is Welsh qualified. His dad was born in Wales because his grandad was playing for Swansea City at the time. His dad despite being born in Swansea played for England age groups and England over 40s as a goalkeeper. Joe was born in Nottingham the club where his dad spent the longest time though mainly as a reserve player and goalkeeping coach.

I don't think there's any feeling towards Wales it would be a move to push him onto the international scene but he's in line to do that at Tigers anyway so I don't see any value for him in the move. Would be about right for Wales online to get the position wrong so the article might well have been borrowed.

It makes sense for Heyes to consider other options if he isn't going to play much first team rugby. He's only 20, which is very young for a prop, but he seems developed enough that you can imagine some Pro 14 or Premiership clubs would give him a fair amount of game time.

If a Welsh region or the WRFU are whispering in his ear and making promises about first team rugby and a pathway to the international squad, then he might be tempted. For most players I doubt it matters what nationality they "feel", it's all about progressing their careers.

It makes sense to get some game time but not too much at his age. Want to finish developing physically without getting injured from game fatigue. If in a couple of years he isn't getting a look in the. He should consider his options. Considering our current scrum coach and players around him is development is better served at Welford Road.
