Re: Tigers v Calvisano - Teams up!
this is how it was written
EARLY CHANGE
The scoreboard allows head coach Geordan Murphy to make an early change among his backs, with Telusa Veainu onto the field in place of Manu Tuilagi.
Full-back Steward will move up into the centres.
Re: Tigers v Calvisano - Teams up!
Bringing Veainu on for Manu after 27 minutes seems a bit bizarre unless it's an injury concern.

Could be to keep his game time under 30 mins, which I believe can affect the number of appearances the England players can make. Who knows.Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 3:47 pmkeep an eye on the Radio Leicester sport twitter feed, I'm sure they'll ask either at HT or FT
Sounds a good opening 16 mins - to get the TBP then off the boil and Calvisano score before HT.
26-7

they just mentioned that on RL commentary, clever management if that's the caseWhitecapTiger wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 3:49 pmCould be to keep his game time under 30 mins, which I believe can affect the number of appearances the England players can make. Wow. Clever management and a 'tactical' change. Have we had a change of coaching staff during the week?
Give blood, play rugby!!
Re: Tigers v Calvisano - Teams up!
From what I can tell, the rules are as follows:
- Maximum 35 match involvements (>20 minutes) in any one season for all players
- Maximum 30 full game equivalents (reduced from 32) in any one season for all players
https://therpa.co.uk/news/2018/10/in-se ... confirmed/
So 27 minutes still counts as a match involvement. I stand by my "bizarre" comment...

Re: Tigers v Calvisano - Teams up!
Forgive me if my maths are wrong, but...
Before today, this season Manu has played 7/8 matches for England, and 2 for Tigers. Total 9/10.
17 remaining games in Premiership, maximum 7 in Challenge Cup (including today). Total 23.
Then there are Six Nations matches, but for every one of those he plays he'll miss a Tigers game, right?
The most games he can play is therefore 32/33 - even if you live in fantasy land and think Tigers will reach the Premiership final, that's still only 34/35. If that's right, then he can't exceed the 35 involvements limit anyway so the 20/30 minutes thing is completely irrelevant.
So I'm still confused at the 27 minute substitution if he's not injured. Unless I've missed something above?

Re: Tigers v Calvisano - Teams up!
They maybe just wanted to give Vieanu some decent game time and look at young Steward a 13 option. No injury to Manu so I really wouldn’t worry about it too muchTiglon wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 4:45 pm Forgive me if my maths are wrong, but...

52 point win no injuries and from what I’ve read really good performances from Lewis and Steward.
From the sounds of it a decent afternoons work.
Only Calvisano I know but hopefully a small step to getting last week out of the system

Re: Tigers v Calvisano - Teams up!
the way Tigers have played the last few years no game is "only" anyone, every win is vital, winning is a habit the same way losing is
