God created rugby so footballers have heros too

Interesting, very much divides opinion.
Not a fans favourite unless you’re Welsh, but the pundits all rave about him.
Not flashy, but old school player who does the basics well

Stats will say he’s one of Wales’ best ever captains, however many people this side of the border believe he recieved 125 caps too many and even in Wales Asher-Smith might be a better nominee, considering she represents the whole of the UK.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

More than a certain F1 driver & a fair few winners of SPOTY.
He is also a rather good 2nd row & an exceptional captain.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

I can't stand the man personally, his 'legendary' leadership mostly amounts to trying to bully referees and generally being a bit annoying at breakdowns (plus some admittedly impressive work in the engine room). At least he lives and pays his taxes in the UK though, which puts him a few notches above most other recent winners.

You rarely win more than 1 international cap without deserving it. At that level its results that matter, not who you may or may not know. Name any international coach who doesn't put results first. No one becomes a 100+ capped international without being excellent.

Just comparing to our own MJ -
Never won a World Cup
Never won anything domestically - league or European Cup
One more Lions Cap than MJ
Granted more International Caps than MJ
Rugby player has only won it once in 2003 - Wilkinson obvs. MJ was 2nd then.

It's very unlikely he will win, but he certainly deserves the nomination.
If he was a) English & b) a Tiger a lot of moaners on here might shut up, they could just go back to picking on Nigel.
There appears to be a few posters on here who might be better spending there time fawning over another Nigel.

I don't know about wining that vote but he's the sort of player and on the field leader that Tigers have very much missed since Corry retired and before that Johnno.
You don't play professional sport to be liked by the opposition fans, but you may win their grudging admiration.

Inspirational captain and grand slam winner but at the world cup Wales weren't great and were a bit lucky to scrape past France. If Wales retain the grand slam next year then he'd be more likely because there's also a good chance he'd be the most capped international at the same time. This year I think he'll be edged out.
