So if we fail to achieve top 6, we don't qualify for Champs cup, so why are we risking not qualifying through this other comp?

We should be giving it a go and see what happens, who says we will beat Saints, I hope we can but should we not wait for this result?
The threat of relegation? We scraped in last season and are in a worse position.
We’re 6 points off fourth with 18 games to go how is that a worse position
It'll be a worse position if we have to rest our best players for premiership games because we've played them in a largely pointless away game Vs Cardiff.

Get 10 points off of Calvasano and then take a view as to what we need from the last two games.

Agreed also should be 5 points at home against Cardiff before the trip to Pau,

It seems Pau are having similar thoughts after tonight's game?

That was still far from a full strength Pau side as well. Missing Luke Whitelock, Ben Smith, Jesse Mogg, Colin Slade, Waqaniburotu, Votu...

No disrespect meant but Calvisano and Enisey-STM are by far the weakest teams in the competition having qualified from weaker leagues outside the Prem, Top 14 or Pro14.

I'll be interested to see Riccardo Brugnara playing against us for Calvisano, given he's an academy grad. Outside of that no names in their squad jump out besides the journeyman's journeyman in Samuela Vunisa and a 36-year old Lorenzo Cittadini.

We will likely see a PRC style side for those games with Costelow and Steward potentially getting starts, aided by a bit of experience around them.

What if just maybe, this teams plays pretty well on a track suitable for fast rugby even in poor Cardiff weather and gets a bonus point of some description or maybe even sneak a win?

I’m fully prepared to be torn down in 12 hours time though.

That’s the point JP. Cardiff Pau and ourselves will be taking very similar views to this. 10 points against Calvisano, then win your home games against the other 2 hopefully with 5 points, then pick up what you can on the road, a win would be great, but just as important stop the other teams getting anything in the home fixture as we did against Pau.

As dire as Clement were last night that lbp could well come back to bite Ulster

Why not be optimistic, not like we've got much to lose! If it wasn't for the threatening shapes of Rey Lee-Lo and Halaholo in the midfield their squad wouldn't particularly shake anybody's boots.

That was a very dodgy first lineout on our throw!

They are killing us on the outside, we are defending so narrowly.

Being dominated by a 36 year old Nick Williams.

Not sure there’s any form of gamplan. Kick to nothing, repeat. Plus when we get in good areas, handling errors.

I don't know what the refs watching at scrum time but it isn't the game. Otherwise yeah it's very flat, could be worse though.
