Tomas Lavanini
Really hoping the Club has found a new on field leader and talisman in this formidable competitor ; the path to greatness can , however be fraught, so in an effort to smooth the transition from Southern to Northern hemisphere rugby may I strongly suggest that Tomas gets familiar with and practices the use of following phrases in the context of a Premiership Match for Tigers.
All listed below to be either proceeded by or ending with the word 'Sir'....
..." it was an accident.. "
..." you are permitted to do this in Super Rugby .. "
..." he fell over .. "
..." I was trying to prevent it from escalating .. "
..." my hand/foot (use as appropriate) slipped .. "
..." I 'm sure he was already bleeding.. "
..." I am unaccustomed to speaking English .. "
..." that was a different Lavivini - it is a common surname in Argentina .. "
..." I was trying to fend him off .. "
..." I slipped as I went in for the tackle .. "
..." he slipped as I went in for the tackle .. "
..." I was only trying to help him up.. "
..." it was purely down to the conditions .. "
..." I did not see him .. "
..." I was just about to wrap my arms when he lowered himself .. "
..." he ran into me .. "
..." err , where is Martin Johnson then ? .. " ** this to be used Pre Match to nearest member of Tigers coaching (?) Staff
To be continued as the season progresses .
Best of luck Tomas , we need you.....

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

"I didn't mean to hit him late but the air is thicker in Leicester than it is in Argentina and so my timing was affected"

...I got the height wrong - we use metres in Argentina...
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

It doesn’t count because he doesn’t fit under the salary cap

“Sorry is that not allowed in England? I thought you enjoyed the forwards having a bit of handbags”
“Oh thank God it’s yellow...thought for a second that had red written all over it”

There is never any points for 2nd place...
Re: Tomas Lavanini
I guess the reason that Lavanini has only been on the bench is due to his language difficulties. Basically he needs a Spanish speaker to help him out on the pitch and as Gigena is always on the bench, Tomas must remain on the bench until Gigena take the field.
Given the fact that Tigers knew that language would be a big barrier for him, I presume the club would have encouraged him to take some English tuition in Argentina prior to joining?
Sincerely hope Tomas is a very quick learner!

Re: Tomas Lavanini
We've had brilliant Argentinian players before - why should Lavanini be any different ?
Re: Tomas Lavanini
You missed my point completely, its nothing to do with him not being a brilliant argentinian player.ancientmariner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 5:58 pm We've had brilliant Argentinian players before - why should Lavanini be any different ?
The fact is it has everything to do with the fact that English is not his first language and he is on a very steep learning curve.

I thought I felt a bump earlier......
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.
