Re: Borthwick
Confirmed? All 20 digits crossed hoping it's so. I can't see an issue with moving Geordie to DoR, how much damage can he really do there for the rest of the season at least. It would be nice to have somebody more qualified but the players seem to like having him around so why not give it a go. As long as he's never allowed near a tactics board ever again
Re: Borthwick
I know the rumours that GM would move to DoR, but it does feel that there will so many 'coaches' in the club. M Ford, B Deacon, M Bakewell, P Blake, B Stankovich, S Borthwick. Add on to that fitness, performance analysts for the senior squad. Are they all employed full-time? I just wonder if Borthwick's arrival will trigger other changes in the coaching set-up.

Re: Borthwick
I don’t want to get too excited about this, as there is nothing to suggest this is a popcorn Friday...only the odd rumour on here...but what the hell!!! I am going to get excited..it’s friday after all.
There is never any points for 2nd place...
Re: Borthwick
I think it will do to be fair. If Borthwick gets full reign of the coaching set up I'd be surprised if Bakewell stays. Equally, there is only room for one of Mike Ford or Phil Blake. For me, Ford would have to be the choice, considering his experience (and links to George) seems to make the most sense keeping him on and allowing him to do the job he's best at, defense coaching. I'd be interested to see if Brett gets retained also; maybe back to head of the Development squad.RichieB wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 8:29 am I know the rumours that GM would move to DoR, but it does feel that there will so many 'coaches' in the club. Would leave
DOR: Geordan Murphy
HC/Forwards: Steve Borthwick
Defense: Mike Ford
Scrum: Boris Stankovich
Half backs coach: David Mele (PT with work with Academy)
So we'd be on the look out for an attack coach as well.
I'm refusing to get too excited though

Re: Borthwick
Mike Ford is the attack coach currently, he created the attacking game plan that helped Bath surge up the table with George at 10. Blake is the defence coach.TTRITH wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 9:09 amI think it will do to be fair. If Borthwick gets full reign of the coaching set up I'd be surprised if Bakewell stays. Re: Borthwick
Would Murphy, as DoR, be on the panel interviewing Borthwick? Be interesting if that's the case.
"So, how would you return the team to winning ways?"
"Well, I'd have to ditch most of the ideas of my predecessor - ah, oops, Sorry"

I guess folks will be scanning the stand tomorrow to see if we have any surprise visitors there!
Re: Borthwick
Let's make our most inexperienced and junior coach DOR.

I sometimes go with the "confident, if wrong" maxim. It doesn't usually work but I thought it would this time.

Re: Borthwick
I'll amend my initial contribution from popcorn Friday to damp squib Friday. In more ways than one.
