Brive scored three converted tries against two for Toulon, but Brive kicked six penalty goals.
Among the Brive players were former Exeter lock Mitch Lees and Saracens prop Haydn Thompson-Stringer (and a certain Stuart Olding)
For Toulon, Ben T'eo came off the bench for the last few minutes.
