Well Voldy clearly has something about him thought I'm not convinced he's the best coach going. This job could well be a good fit for him as he has plenty of experience as a DOR and working within a national setup.

Leaves the England age grade system with issues though Ryan, Bates and now Mallinder all leaving in fairly quick succession. Makes allowing Ryan to sack those two established under 18s coaches look even worse. It will be interesting to see how they rebuild that setup.

I'm unsure about it. Have heard good and bad about Mallinder so really a bit dubious.

The job, so far as I understand it (although a lot of people were never really sure what Scott Johnson did) is about developing the professional playing structures in Scotland, so the academy, coach development (and I think ref development), senior appointments e.g. coaches for Edinburgh / Glasgow / Scotland, etc.

So the role has changed and he has no responsibility for recruitment. Player development pathway is the primary function, which it could be said is one of his better areas.

So long as he doesn't try and bring Dorian with him.

This appointment is a strange one imo. Are Scotland clutching at straws?

I think some of you are being unkind to Mallinder, he is a far better coach than Murphy who hasn't improved Tigers in all the years he has been in the coaching set up.

Seems his job is primarily developing the academy, not coaching.
